We ate here twice during hour stay in Elounda. On our first visit we were lucky to get the last remaining table, so we booked in advance for our second visit. The menu is only small, but that ensures that the food is always fresh. Marinos, the owner took the time to explain how the dishes were prepared. Very nice touch. For our first meal we had the seabass (possibly the best ever!). For our second visit we had the meatballs and fried spiced pork. The complimentary meze and deserts were lovely.

By far our favourite restaurant. Small and family run traditional Greek food. Not a huge menu but what they do is fabulous. Made me very nostalgic the food was that good. Complementary mezze to start. The little fish and giant beans for starters were great. The meat balls were just as I remember them from my youth and my husband's lamb chops were so tasty and lots of them. Complementary dessert to finish off. As we didn't like raki, also complementary, we got more wine! Such a friendly warm welcome that we're going to go back for our last night. Efharisto bola!

This is a great wee place overlooking Elounda harbour with a lovely atmosphere and fantastic service. We ate here 2 nights this week as we enjoyed ourselves so much the first time. The owner Marinos is so friendly and we ended up sitting drinking Raki with them late both nights!

Very small but hugely friendly restaurant. The food was lovely and the owner described everything to us & was very proud to tell us of his grandmothers recipe for meatballs which we both had. A bit out of town but worth the walk if you want to experience feeling you are having dinner with a Cretian family.
The prices are so cheap we felt almost guilty when the bill came. Give it a try.

This was the highlight of our eating experiences in Elounda. Sure it doesn’t look much from the outside - a small taverna with maybe 12 tables in a non-descript road out of town....but oh the food!

It’s like eating with a Cretan family - the owner is so welcoming and obviously loves the food as he explains the dishes with such care. It’s a smallish menu accompanied by basic drinks (house wine, oozo etc) but everything on the menu was so delicious!

After our first meal we immediately booked for the next night (something we never do) as the whole experience was just great.

If you go at 7 (the earliest you can eat) you get great views of the sunset over the bay from this elevated spot.

To start all diners receive a complimentary set of little plates of appetisers which were yummy! Then over two nights we had four lovely starters of beetroot salad, marinated little fishes, tzatsiki and saganaki cheese which were all really tasty!

For the main we opted for the sea bream (most expensive item on the menu at €16), lamb chops €13 and the best meat balls I have ever had €8. Couldn’t fault any of the food and the salads were also spectacular - and so large!! The best was the shepherds salad - leaves, orange dressing, figs and raisins - superb!

To top off the meal the owner gives you a free dessert made with lemons from his garden and a glass of raki.

Our meal with two carafes of wine came to about €55 which was amazing for the quality and quantity of food.

If you want to appreciate a taverna like it was maybe 20 years ago, with food made with love and a charming host then this is the place to come. Yes it’s not a fancy restaurant, but on the nights we went there were people from around the world enjoying their meals including Americans, Brits, Poles, Dutch and lots of locals too.

It’s only got about 12 tables so book as we saw people being turned away. You won’t regret it!
