“Believe the hype!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014 via mobile

I've never been to the Heights before, so I'm not submitting this review as one of their 'regulars'. My brother was getting married in a chapel just over the causeway, so I stayed with my partner and various other members of my family for 9 days earlier this month. All I can say is believe all the great things you've read! The staff at the Heights will be as involved or as distant during your holidays as you like; there if you're up for a chat and a laugh, not in the least bit intrusive when you want some down time.

Your room will be cleaned every couple of days, providing the right balance between hotel and apartment. Everything was light, airy and spacious, with fantastic views over Elounda or towards the causeway depending on your room. The pool is surprisingly big (bigger than you think once you're in it), and there was enough loungers every day even with my family taking up most of them! The pool bar is ace, but pretty dangerous as far as the room tab is concerned!

Despite my brother not actually getting married at the Heights, the staff couldn't do enough for you, & staff & guests alike came to clap and cheer as we all set off for the big day; that's just the kind of place the Heights is.

You'll read some reviews saying the guests can be a bit cliquey with the owners, & to an extent it's true. But to be blunt, it's the kind of clique you want to be in. Partly because of the occasion, and partly because of the hospitality, this was a trip I will genuinely cherish forever. To sum up the ethos of the Heights I'll leave you with a quote from our stay:

Vangelis: Are you having a good time?
Us: Yes, thank you!
Vangelis: Good. Because you know if you're not, you've only got yourself to blame!

Perfect as always - our 3rd visit. Great hosts, great food, great accommodation, great views, great company, great relaxation, great boat trip, great weather. Great big wait before we go again - unfortunately.

This was our first time at the apartments and it exceeded out expectations. The whole place was immaculate, very friendly and willing staff (family run) and a great spot on a hill offering stunning views. Perfect for couples!

As a returning couple we knew what to expect - (excellent service), but the trip exceeded our expectations. You have the good food, good views, relaxing pool area, beautiful gardens, etc. etc. but it is the small things that other hotels do not have. The chats with the owner on all subjects from history of Crete , trips you can take in the area, local people and the traditions and many more subjects. The friendly staff who always have a smile on their faces and so helpful. (Areti, Sinead and not forgetting Christina who always fluffed up my pillow just right). Well worth a visit, we are booking again for September this year.

Room Tip: All rooms are good. We like the studios as there are all different. You will have your own patio on...

We were pretty happy with our stay. Just the 2 nights.

Amazing pool and gardens with fantastic view.

The cost of that view is a very steep hill which you'll need to climb after dinner in town, but other than that it's a short walk.

Rooms were a bit small and dark - mattress in need of replacing soon too. Also, be aware no TVs in room - beautiful view outside though so you shouldn't need it.

Staff were generally quite helpful, but we might have caught one on a bad day - they made up for it later though.

Very good for the price.

Recommended.

Just back from our 4th stay at the incredible Elounda Heights and once again it did not disappoint.
We actually took 2 friends for their first visit and they were blown away with it especially the views.
Vangelis and his staff have lost none of their unique service and attention to detail which makes your stay so enjoyable. The Sunday boat trip is not to be missed as well as the mezi night and any other night you decide to sample Vangelis culinary delights.
Our only disappointment was being a few weeks early so as to miss the indulgence of the grapes and passion fruits on the patio and around the pool.

Room Tip: In my opinion the studios have a better view than the appartments although this is minimal.

Our third trip to Elounda. Previously we stayed at the very good, but equally expensive "Elounda Bay Palace". We realized that we mostly don't use hotel facilities, so this year we found this gem on a small hilltop in central Elounda. The owner is a fine greek man married to an English lady. All speak English fluently, and the couple is very good at advicing routes for travels both by foot and by car. We will most likely be back next year. The Ikaros appartement that we were happy to stay in is a great candidate for an all-winther stay when we get a little bit older. An old dream of ours.

Our only problem during the stay: Our low-powered rental car had a hard time climbing up the hill. :)
