“Thanks for the chance”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2014

I found by chance this hotel for my one week stay in Crete. It was a good home to stay in and to return in from the discovering trips. Pleasant neighborhood, well organized small room and generous balcony, carefully prepared breakfast. People with sincerely open kindness, always responsible for their guests. Thank you!

Very clean and modern hotel in a good (perfectly safe) location. Excellent rooms and slept like a log.Very good and wide choice of cooked and cold breakfasts - buffet so help yourself - regularly replenished so nothing stale. Very friendly and helpful staff too. Great value for money.

I can't agree with a single criticism that has been made and must wonder what some people expect.

Room Tip: I was on the first floor on the main street side. A/c if needed and very well soundproofed so no noi...

We stayed at The Atrion in May and enjoyed our stay.
The hotel and rooms are clean and well appointed.
At first the hotel may appear to be not well situated but it is in fact only a 5 minute walk from the central pedestrianized street of Heraklion.
The breakfast is more than adequate.

This is a really good hotel with great service and an excellent breakfast as other have noted. We had a family of 4 in the room and had plenty of space. The rooms were newly appointed and in great condition. I'm baffled by the comments about the location and noise. If you pick a hotel in a city center anywhere, especially if you book through a discount travel agency, you're not going to get a pristine view and will most likely see the back of other hotels and apartments!!! Greek buildings are old, most exterior renovations date back 50-60 years, so the paint and structures aren't going to be perfect. The area is not ghetto and the hotel is not in an undesirable location. I can also say that yes we could see planes flying over the water due to the proximity of the airport, but they certainly didn't fly over the hotel and there was no additional noise. In fact, the hotel was exceptionally quiet at night. The hotel was ideally located in Heraklion, about 2 blocks from the city center and a block from the shoreline and the Venetian fortress walk. My only minor complaint about the hotel is the bathroom door in the rooms; the edges of the frosted glass doors don't close flush against the frame. There's a nice half inch gap which basically defeats the purpose of having the door in the first place.

We were very glad we stayed at the Atrion. The room for our visit was arranged by friends who live in Iraklio (Heraklion) so their local knowledge and help certainly came in handy. The hotel is centrally located, a short walk to the harbour (we walked with luggage to get our departing ferry in about 15 mins from the hotel), bus station, town centre and a taxi from the airport is around 6 euro. The room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the city, the coast and snowcapped mountains to the west. Breakfast was varied and plentiful and the staff at the hotel were very professional and friendly. We didn't have any concerns about the location, 5 mins walk from the main pedestrian thoroughfare, or noise (we were on the top floor and didn't hear a plane during our stay; and yes the airport is further along the coast but on the other side of town and indeed close to the city so it was not a factor as suggested by a previous reviewer). The hotel comes highly recommended and provided a wonderful base for our 4 days in Crete's capital city.

Friends let me down my first night in Heraklion, so I searched for a close hotel until they returned from a trip. The Atrion welcomed me in with a special price. I chose the place because it was close to the center, had a glass wall to show the nice interior and looked tidy inside and out. It was a wise decision. The price was excellent, especially given that I was in need at 11pm. Breakfast, however, was perfect. It was a broad speed of Greek foods with fruits and nuts and honey, pancakes of a sort, olives, jellies, breads, eggs, sauces and more that I can remember. The coffee was very tasty. As for the room, it was clean, modern, quiet and comfortable. In Heraklion quiet is an issue, so I was pleased that this hotel was almost dead quiet in the room. A few days later, in need of a scanner and internet connection I returned to the Atrion hoping the manager would help me. She did with a charming smile and excellent English. I was able to conduct a key bit of business thanks to her kindness and willingness to help a former guest. I am comfortable recommending the Atrion for quality, price, safety and the kindness of staff.

Room Tip: My room was small, but efficient and quiet. More I cannot add nor did I need.
