Perfect wedding venue

Review of The Lamb Inn
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 6 Sept 2023via mobile
We had our wedding day at the Lamb Inn in Sandford on Friday 1st Sept 2023.

We cannot rate this place highly enough and would rate it 10 out of 5 for every aspect if we could!

From the first contact with Nick and Vicky to our goodbyes after the wedding it was just perfection. We wanted a laid back wedding, with some formalities and traditions and that’s exactly what we got.

Nick and Vicky reassured us that no question or request would be deemed as silly and they would do their best to accommodate us and we instantly felt at ease.

We were able to decorate the Dorwich room ourselves and we had our day as we dreamed of without rules and restrictions being placed on us.

Vicky was a superstar, in ‘hosting’ our day. She remembered all the small details that were really important to us and was there when we needed her, without being intrusive.

The food and drink was phenomenal, memorably enjoyed by our guests both with a plainer and those with a more adventurous palate. We opted for the sharing platters, which were plentiful - our guests could eat as much or as little as they wanted. The two children we had as guests (included a gluten free child) were accommodated for well and the one vegetarian had a choice of their meal in advance.

The venue itself was perfect and quaint. Fortunately the sun shone on us on our day and we had our ceremony outside on the stage, with our guests in the pub garden, but even plan ‘b’ (inside the pub) would have been great too.

We stayed the night in the garden room, which was comfortable, luxurious, well equipped (even with a sturdy hook to hang a wedding dress from) . We used the room as a getting ready area and also where the ‘bridal party walk began from.

We can not recommend The Lamb Inn highly enough. We, and all our guests ranging from 8 to 86 years had a great time.

Thank you to Nick and Vicky and the other staff who made our wedding day all we dreamed of and more.

Another great stay at The Lamb Inn.
We try and get over this way twice a year, and the welcome is always fantastic. The room was spotless, the bed was extremely comfortable and the food was excellent
Looking forward to our next visit when we can bring our dog as well

The Lamb Inn is an exceptional hidden gem on our travels down to Cornwall.

The accomodation which is dog friendly was very cosy and perfect for our needs!

The beer garden is on a few levels and quirky with private seatibg areas. Our meals were fantastic, we ordered the Chicken Kebab and Goat Curry, partner thought the kebab was lovely with added pomegranate itmade the dish! I had the goat curry and thought it was one of the best I've ever tasted, thank you.

Will highly recommend The Lamb Inn. 5 Stars!

A lovely pub, really venue - perhaps slightly lacking in atmosphere but that could be due to time of year I visited.
Went for a Sunday roast there recently, and although the veg was good amount and cooked perfectly, roast potatoes were ok, amazing yorkie but there was a serious lack of meat. We were booked in for lunch for 1:30pm and 3 of us all had beef - but literally got 1 slice of meat each.. Very disappointing when paying £14.95 a plate.

My wife and I have just returned from a three night stay at The Lamb Inn at Sandford. Nick and his team have excellently managed to maintain the ‘oldie worldly’ charm of this historic pub with all its endearing character and the essential elements of high quality accommodation one expects today. But the real distinguishing features are the warmth of welcome one receives from Nick, Vicky, Chris plus the excellent cuisine one enjoys
We can’t express our appreciation too much for a lovely break and are looking forward to returning in the not too distant future.

Room tip: The room we had was overlooking the Square and wasn’t too hot for sleeping in this extreme weather, but the fan provided was helpful.

We turned up at 8pm for a one night stay due to work commitments. We asked if we could have some food and the bar staff asked the chef. The Chef made a big fuss, swearing and kicking off that we asked for food and we heard it all as we were only the other side of the door. It made us feel really uncomfortable as we only asked and didn’t demand it. If it wasn’t so late we may have tried to find somewhere else to stay but we had no choice by this time. We rejected breakfast because of the way the chef spoke. It was obvious the bar staff felt uncomfortable also as they knew we heard so gave us the opportunity to have a takeaway in the pub which was kind. The rooms were good, and the stay was pleasant. Just a shame about the chef.
