After the drive to Ierapetra and a couple of hours walking around the town, we decided to grab a snack-type lunch here as I knew it had a good reputation. We weren't disappointed at all, as soon as we walked in, a friendly waiter showed us to a table by the rear window overlooking the beach. I was driving so we ordered two soft drinks and as we also had plans for dining that evening, we decided to have a quick lunch.

We ordered kalimari and a Greek salad, both to share and they arrived within 5 minutes. The kalimari was fresh, as you would expect in a fishing town, and perfectly flash fried in a delicious tempura batter. There was more than enough for two people and the dish included the tentacles as well as the rings. The Greek salad was huge and drizzled with olive oil and dusted with herbs.

We ate the lot and with the bill being just €13, thought we had enjoyed a good meal at a bargain price.

We had a great meal. Only locals were there at the time - if the locals patronize it, you know it is good! Include in the cost were 3 mezedes (appetizers), fresh fruit with cake dessert. We had a mixed grill and Greek salad, with 1/2 l of wine for under 20e. It was enjoyable for us watching the locals enjoy themselves and their food.Location is on the seaside/harborfront.

If you're really in a hurry and willing to eat something good and in a very good price, you have to visit this restaurant.
Food is very decent with a great value-for-money choice!
You will eat a good Cretan food in a light speed time service and very good prices for the quality and the place it is!

A very good alternative if you can't find a place to seat on the Napoleon Restaurant which on my opinion is the best in the town!

We find ourselves returning to this tavern when desiring seafood in Ierapetra.
The menu includes both seafood and homecooked type dishes. As usual in Greece, most of the seafood is from frozen, but you can always choose from the catch of the day ( and pay a bit more).
What I like about Gorgona is that the ingedients are local, the portions decent, and no one is trying to fool you.

We went here after a wonderful and astonishing day in Chrissi, we were tired so we chose the first tavern with sea view.
We asked for some appetizers, after very short time we got our salad which was normal nothing special and dolmades (rice folded by grapevine leaves) which probably came from supermarket.
We ate our cuttlefish, but it was gummy, very bad at all.
The thing that was the straw that broke the camel's back was that on the road near the tavern we saw this greek person who while he was parking, crashed into a tourist car, and started yelling and insulting the two tourists and all Italian people. We saw that wasn't their fault but it was the greek man who crashed into them, finally we undestood that this greek man was the owner of the tavern, very disappointing situation. Never again, we truly don't suggest this restaurant for the food first and for the man behind this tavern.
