My husband, my mother, my aunt and myself spent 9 days recently at Villa Patrico and I cannot recommend highly enough this beautiful house for a vacation in Crete.
The house is perfect for a group of friends or family, spacious with all amenities, full of character and tastefully renovated. It is peaceful and located in a traditional village and you will need a car to reach the nearest shops although vans stop in front of your door in the morning selling vegetables, bread, cheese, etc..., in itself a great experience. It is near the atmospheric lake Kournas and lively Georgoupolis and Rethymno and a good base to explore the White Mountains and even drive down to Hora Sfakia on the South Coast. It is also ideal just to relax and there are some good restaurants nearby, most particularly Arkoudaina Garden near Episkopi.
The owners, Manolis and Doris, were so gracious, helpful and welcoming to us that I cannot thank them enough. As for Kostas and Sophia, the managing agents, they were very professional and ensured the process went smoothly from the booking process onwards.
It was certainly one of the best experiences we had in Crete since starting visiting 15 years ago and we shall certainly come back to this special place.
The welcome impeccable, team as usual very professional, village very relaxing, very nice walk. Successful holiday with our children
We were 6 Persons and we stayed for 2 weeks at Patrico House. There was everything inside, that we needed. The host was overwhelming friendly and brougt us every second day wine, fruits to our house. Etouri, the manager of this posession was also very friendly and true caring. We travel a lot all over the world, but this was the best service we ever get!!! Evharisto poli!!!!
The villa is in a perfect location to use as a base to travel around the western part of Crete to beaches, sightseeing in Rhetymno and Chania, and generally enjoying the good life on a Cretan vacation. The amenities were exactly as described by the hosts and in good operating order. Mrs. Giouli (the owner) and Mr. Fradellos welcomed us the night we reached Crete and presented the location; a basket of fruits, coffee, local (and excellent) eggs were provided by the gracious hosts. Mr Fradellos was especially helpful with a brief orientation, and also treated us with his excellent wine, in such large quantities that we were not even able to finish it all :) Most of the villa's yard is covered by an old grapevine (thick as tree) which provide a nice shade during the hot days. I wish I was able to spend a day doing nothing and just enjoying the shade and the atmosphere of the village, but with kids that was not exactly possible :)
Sophia was also very helpful with advice on arranging local trips (Samaria Gorge is a must if you're in Crete). All in all an excellent experience and highly recommended to families.
We would like to thank Mr. Manolis the owner of the property for the stay. Mr Manolis was very helpful and he provide us with his assistance in everything we need. The property is renovated and is in excellent condition. The kitchen provides everything a family could need for a pleasant stay. Even if there are no mini markets in Zouridi village there is a itinerant grocer coming to village every day with fresh fruits and vegetables. In the nearby village Agios Konstantinos ( 5 min by car) there is a mini market (with excellent meat) and a bakery. The property is located in central Rethymnon providing easy access to North and South beaches. At North there is the Episkopi beach a 12 Km sandy beach. 30 Km to the South you can easily reach Plakias, Damnioni or Fragokastello a little bit further.
