I used days searching for the best accommodation with awesome views for our holiday in Crete and went through hundreds of listings. Villa Dianna seemed just perfect and the villas home page had even more glorious pictures and details. My booking contained some questions which were answered immediately by Myros. Trough the months I sent him some more questions and usually it took minutes for him to answer. Nice job!
At last our holiday begun and we arrived at the villa and were welcomed by Myros, his mother and sisters. Villa had more than everything we would possibly need so it felt straight away like home. Fridge was filled with basic food items when we arrived and there was endless supply of fresh fruits and eggs through our stay. We cooked a lot and used tomatoes, chilis and peppers from the villas garden.
I usually want to know every detail about the accommodation to help my booking choice so prepare for long description. ;)
The villa had three floors and even elevator. Every bedroom had air-condition, satellite TV and private bathroom. Top floor had two bedrooms, three balconies and huge terrace with breathtaking views. Kitchen, living room/dining area, office, utility room and one bedroom were at the middle/main floor. The kitchen had water purifier machine which also cooled the water and all the appliances you might need (fridge with freezer, stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, mixer, juicer and more). There were also big selection of cooking kitchenware and off course for wining and dining. Livingroom had terrace which led to backyard, balcony, air-con, fireplace, TV, Bluetooth speaker and display for outside camera surveillance. Office had air-con, computer with internet connection and the whole villa had Wi-Fi coverage. Utility room next to kitchen had washing machine, safe, cleaning appliances and even full bathroom with shower. Middle floor bedroom also had two balconies. Bottom floor had one more bedroom which had bathroom for disabled people and second washing machine.
The villa was surrounded by walls, nice outside lightning for the evenings and we felt secure even with two-year-old running around. Front yard had a garden and entrance to the gym which had treadmill, exercise bike, bench press, punching bag, lot of weights and air-con. On the gym entrance was also a jacuzzi/hot tub. On the side of the villa was nice shady place for a car. Main thing was off course the backyard with outside shower, sunbathing facilities and big pool which was 1 meter deep on the shallow end and over 2 meters deep on the deeper end. The back yard also had awesome views and dining area with sink, wood/charcoal grill and oven.
We really enjoyed our stay and Myros was so helpful - we even chatted via WhatsApp which was very convenient. There are no buildings blocking the view to the Mediterranean Sea and you can really relax at Villa Dianna and occasionally watch goat or sheep herd go by. You are further away from city services but everything is close when you have a car which you do need to fully enjoy Crete and I even enjoyed the driving bit on those twisty hill and mountain roads.
We will be back! ;D
We spent spent 10 nights at the glorious villa Dianna in its beautiful rural setting. The villa is extremely high spec providing luxury accommodation. We were welcomed on arrival by Myro and he had been so helpful during the organising, including helping us book a car from his friend. Each bedroom has its own en suite facilities, electric shutters, mosquito doors and air conditioning in every room-there is even a lift! We could not recommend this villa enough - you have to go!
The family who own the villa are very attentive to your every need, extremely friendly and insistent on you enjoying your holiday and we thought they were lovely and made the experience. They went above and beyond; we were allowed to pick their own fresh produce from the garden and we were made to feel very special. The outside area had an oven and BBQ, we even made our own pizzas in the pizza oven!
The views were stunning and the sound of the goats bells wandering home every evening gave an incredible atmosphere from the beautiful top terrace. There were so many beautiful terraces to sit on! There was even a gym which we used on one occasion, to allow us to continue to keep celebrating without gaining too much weight and extinguish our guilt for being so lazy! The pool was delightful and a great size.
A car gets you to where you need to be very easily, as the supermarkets and shops are very close. We even had a taxi on one occasion which was a very reasonable price and the roads up to the villa are very accessible.
We can't recommend our stay more highly please go and visit. The family are so lovely we welcome them to visit us back in England anytime Xx
We really enjoyed staying in this house. It was very clean and well equipped and there was nothing we felt we missed. The owners were very warm, friendly and welcoming, and were so helpful with advice and making sure everything was perfect for us. They had filled the fridge with essential food on arrivel and provided us with fresh eggs and fruit during our stay. In other words, they were so friendly and generous and we felt spoiled! The location of the house is in our opinion perfect, as it is in a quiet area and provides a magnificant view of the sea and the mountains. It's easy to get around and only about 30 minutes to some of the most beautiful beaches in Crete. The outdoor area of the house is just amazing. Big clean pool and outdoor shower, well equiped barbeque area (even a pizza owen), furniture and sunbeds. So comfertable that we spendt many of our days by the pool rather than going to the beach. We are allready thinking of coming back next year and would warmly recommend this house to others. Thanks again to the family for contributing to making our stay so perfect and wonderful!
when we arrived, the house is actually nicer in real life than the pictures. the house is quite big and sleeps 2 people per room (meaning 8, 10 might be a bit tight in my opinion). the house looks like new and it has a lot of terraces.
pool and grill area are very nice. has amazing views to the ocean and the mountains and you get to see the sunset every single day. its beautiful.
- pool and grill area are amazing. definitely bigger than any of the other houses we checked out.
- amazing views of the ocean and sunsets.
- no direct neighbours (wall to wall that is), there are some houses around but at night you can still be outside on the terrace listening to music and speaking at a normal voice level.
- the owners are extremely friendly and always happy to help you. they are often around the house grounds as they look after their home grown crops (tomatoes, etc) and are often cleaning the pool area. we all agreed that Myron (your contact if you chose to rent the house) was an amazing host and always happy to help.
- everything is kept on top condition
- elevator. we didn't use it though.
- they cleaned the bathrooms and changed bathroom towels once
some of the not perfect things in our opinion (but thats just being picky):
- kitchen is not as spacey in proportion to the house, so it turned out a bit challenging when more than 4 people where in there multitasking BUT its definitely big enough to cook meals for the whole group.
- the location of the house is in the mountains and there is nothing in a walking distance. we found a tavern called Christos which is in the town nearby (Gallou) and the food was really good. you still need to drive around +5 mins. there are other towns a bit further way from the house where they have more choices. the southern coast beaches are around 1 hr by car, and beaches around rhetymno are around 20-30 min by car. rhetymno is around 15-20 min.
- one of the 4 bedrooms is in the ground level / basement. this room has its own direct entrance to the house on the lower level but it doesn't have a balcony or any views. it does have windows though, but the other 3 on the upper levels are significantly better. however, the room has the same high standard as the other rooms, so no real complaint. bathroom is handicap friendly (this is a pro not a con :-).
very happy with the property and experience. really enjoyed our stay. what you see is what you get (in our opinion even a bit more). 100% recommendable
From the moment you arrive you are embraced by the warmth of the lovely family who own this superb villa. They have thought of everything and more: fridge and cupboards stocked with all the essentials, fluffy white towels and clean white bed linen, pool towels, lilos, a desktop, wi fi, a better gym than most hotels offer, insect screens and air con in all rooms.
I didn't want to leave the views, the smell of the fresh herbs in the garden, the sound of the goats in the morning wandering over the mountain, the cicadas in the olive trees, the swallows swooping down to cool their bellies in the pool.
If we visit Crete again I will definitely book the Villa Dianna. I have never stayed in such a lovely villa.
We found the villa through Booking.com. The villa is located 10 min drive from Rethimno in the center of the island, therefore close to everywhere in Crete.
The villa is beautiful and fully equipped - swiming pool, gim, jacuzzi, high end tasteful furnishing, WiFi, Sat TV in every room, ocean view balconies, fully equipped kitchen etc...
Anna Pasparaki and Her parents are super friendly and gave us an amazing welcome committee when we arrived. They are extremely generous and helpful if you need anything at all.
We certainly recommend the place!!
What a fantastic villa! Each room is designed for maximum ocean views and comfort. The entire home is done in high end furnishings and tasteful decor. The pool area is just beautiful with ocean views and full privacy, along with a BBQ grill and pizza oven. The home is well stocked with everything you would need for cooking including butter, olive oil, spices and fresh herbs from the garden. The family is super friendly and generous, they brought us farm fresh eggs, cheese and fresh fruit. They were an amazing welcome committee when we arrived and extremely helpful if you need anything at all. The villa sits on the top of a tall hill with goats and sheep grazing around, just lovely. We would recommend this place to anyone who wants a villa away from the crowds but close enough to restaurants and nightlife wanted. Down the hill, Cristo's family run taverna offers amazing local cuisine and excellent prices in a very friendly environment.
