After reading some of the other reviews posted here we initially had our doubts about their authenticity (we have had bad experiences elsewhere after trusting bogus reviews on this site), we needn’t have worried however - the villa(s) are amazing.
We went for peace and quiet, away from everyone and everything. They really are a retreat.
Hopefully the following points will be of use to you....
There are 2 detached villas.
We stayed in villa 2.
Villa 2 is more private with bigger grounds, great BBQ area and a more private pool area than Villa 1 which is slightly overlooked by Villa 2.
The pool is not heated, which in July was a blessing!
The gardens are gorgeous.
Being on the side of a hill it can be exposed to the wind and a bit chilly in the evening, so long trousers / cardigan may be an idea.
There are plenty of terraces and balconies, for various parts of the day
They are in the middle of nowhere and a good 5 min drive to the local store.
The closest town with a good choice of restaurants is Spili. There is also a supermarket and a handful of other food shops.
It's about 1.5 hrs drive from Heraklion.
There are around 30 steps from the road to the villa. It's not possible to drive up right up to the villas as the drive is so steep.
The road is very quiet and single track.
There is shade by each pool with sun loungers.
Air con can be purchased locally for 7 euro per day.
Other people have left some local hints and tips in the guest book.
There is maid service everyday (exc Sunday) by Maria. She left us some eggs, cake, and various fruit and vegetables.
There is a washing machine on site.
The free wifi is great. Password is inside the guest book.
We called into Lidl just outside Rethmynon on route to the villas.
The local petrol stations are closed on Sunday, only a few open.
The cheapest place for fuel we found was either around Rethmynon on the way to/from Agia Galini
There is no dishwasher on site. The water is very hot, so rubber gloves are an idea for washing up.
There is a microwave, cooker, hob, oven, kettle, huge fridge freezer, toaster machine (sandwich style).
For the size of the villa, I would say that the kitchen is basic in equipment. Great if there are 2 of you... Maybe different if there is 4.
We found in the wind, that the shutters in the bedrooms (to keep it cool) can rattle.
We paid a deposit via bank transfer and then cash on arrival (Greece is mainly a cash society so leave the plastic at home!)
The villas are really excellent.
Very, very modern, and on trend. If you want to be secluded...go for it.
