This restaurant situates in the heart of the old town of Rehymnon - just like it's name says. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, Greece music is played and you are sitting in the shades of old and narrow streets and two very nice looking girls invite you to come in.
The menu is for sure the longest you can find in Rethymnon. It so long that it really takes a long time to go through. When reading it you suddently remember the tv-show of one of the famous tv-kooks where they advice not to have too many dishes on the menu - it far too difficult to handle and make profit for the restaurant.
However for the main course I chose this time a hot plate meze - different kinds of Greece hot meals. Have to say that when having eaten it I understood the reason how it was possible that the menu was so long. The food tasted industrialized and was not cooked in the kitchen of the restaurant. I suppose that when thinking of the starter it was also made somewhere else.

I love Rehtymno, cancelled our itinerary to tour the middle part of Crete and just spend a couple of days shopping, browsing, eating, people watching and taking it all in!!! GREAT!

We liked the maze of little streets with interesting shops and lovely tavernas. Usual mix of things for sale from hand made and unique, to mass produced.

It felt very safe and we did not feel threatened at any time.

The only thing we weren't keen on was the eating places at the sea front as every single place tried to tempt us in and it was very wearing!

A nice looking place in a nice narrow street. Very nice and friendly staff. Had a good thim there. But the food is not so special. Had a selection of Cretan specialities and they all tasted more like industrial food...

The Old Town of Rethymnon is full of small streets with restaurants and vendors. The stores sell a mixture of paintings, clothing/shoes, spices, olive oil, postcards, etc.

Most of the restaurants have tables on the cobblestone streets. It seems to be a pedestrian zone with few cars/motorcycles.

You should be aware that most of the stores close in the afternoon but are open in full force at night. The restaurants seem to be open for the whole day. In certain (busier) sections of the Old Town, the restaurants have people stationed outside harassing you to come dine with them. That got a bit annoying because it means constantly declining. Nevertheless, the Old Town is charming and worth a visit!
