The hotel and Service are excellent, but the food is less so. Why have sugared orange drink instead of real orange juice in Crete which grows millions of oranges?? The watery coffee could be improved on. Maybe an espresso machine would help? I have had better breakfasts in "lesser" hotels.

The hotel was built in a nice location with good views. It is however away from the beach and restaurants and you will need a car or you will be "grounded". The final touches are lacking and you can see that shortcuts were taken when finishing the resort (our room had two badly repaired water leaks).

The Internet is very poor and not working most of the time. In our unit there was only signal on the back patio at some hours of the day. During peak hours the network simply crashes and does not respond at all. In today's environment this should be a given and is simple enough to get right and should just work.

The rooms are noisy as you can hear all your neighbours due to poor insulation of the units. There is also an annoying light sensor in the passage that goes on every time you go to the bathroom and this can goes very bright in the middle of the night if you get up.

The pillows are uncomfortable.

Nice swimming pool.

I don't think this deserves a four stars as stated at the entrance. There are basics missing (i.e. kettle, safe).

the Spa is excellent and the massages are very good.

We found this holiday on Voyage Prive and when we arrived we were shocked as to how high up in the hills we were and we were totally reliant upon the hotel mini bus!

It said in the advert that there was a private beach but it failed to say that this was 20 min ride away down hll... once there, there was one restaurant by the beach - nothing much to write home about.

The hotel itself was new and so not much to moan abut decor wise. The pool was lovely too.

The best bit of the holiday was the Restaurant Manager who fell over himself to do whatever he could to please.

Not bad for a remote break but not good for single travellers and infirm people.

To echo previous reviewers, you will definitely need a hire car as this hotel is a few miles inland from the main national road between Heraklion and Rethymnon. It is in a peaceful setting with views out towards the sea. However, it is not in the middle of nowhere being a 30 minute walk down into the coastal village of Stavromenos where there are minimarkets and a couple of tavernas (better to drive, however, given the steep uphill return journey!). We cannot rate the tavernas as we chose to eat our evening meals at the hotel restaurant, having been pleasantly surprised by the quality and value for money of the buffet meal on offer. The dishes were varied, plenty of salads and roast vegetables, always a choice of meats and a fish dish, and vegetarians well catered for. Unusually in our experience the hotel manager chose to eat in the restaurant with the guests. The kitchen, bar and restaurant staff were approachable, friendly and efficient, the latter supervised by the charming Argiro. We cannot rate the other hotel amenities as we used the Rimondi as a base for touring the glorious Cretan countryside, for which it is well suited. Overall we had a very happy stay.

My husband and I spent two lovely weeks here in May. great accommodation and very peaceful. The pool was too cold even in May and needs to be heated. You need a car to be able to explore the area. It is within driving distance of Rythymno where there is long beach and lots of restaurants to chose from. Service at the hotel was excellent and the staff very friendly. There was a good choice at the buffet breakfast, but for an island with orange trees everywhere we couldn't understand why they didn't have fresh orange. We would definitely Go again a very relaxing stay.

The hotel is in a very small quiet village, the sheep and olive groove are just outside the grounds. We enjoyed our stay with three children in the two bedroom Vila. One child slept on the couch in the living room. The pool was too cold to swim in in April, could be nice if it was heated. If you come with a car you can park below the villas and carry your luggage inside. From the top parking there are many stairs. The hotel staff is very friendly in the front desk and the restaurant, although we hate having to pay for water on half board dinner.

We stayed at this hotel for four days last May and were very impressed. Situated in a quiet village it is a very pretty place that sits sympathetically into its surroundings....which are quite stunning, a beautiful valley with panoramic views down to the sea. It's a new hotel that's very sleek and modern but they've also used lots of rustic stone as well so it still has character and warmth.

Our room was clean and bright with a sitting room and a large modern bathroom all furnished to a high standard and maid service very day who did an excellent job. Two balconies to take advantage of those incredible views and so relaxing to sit with a glass of wine in the evening watching the sun go down.

The food was fresh and local with nothing too much trouble for the staff who were very attentive but not overbearing. Beautiful infinity pool with good quality beds plus a fantastic rooftop terrace as well where you could also sunbathe in the day if you wanted to. The terrace was also a lovely place to gather in the evening with a drink before dinner to again take in the fabulous vista.

We didn't use the spa because we were only there for a few days but we had a look round and it was gorgeous and we will definitely give it a try when we return.

All in all this was the best short trip we've ever had and I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing break in beautiful surroundings with the added bonus of friendly, helpful staff who genuinely want you to enjoy your stay.

Room Tip: All rooms have a good view but if you are a little infirm ask to be close to the reception area.
