“Best Bartender and Spa Manager”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

Nykos the bartender was the MOST helpful. He gave us some ideas of places to go and things to see! He directed us to Elafonisi Beach which is awe inspiring and a FUN drive to get to...but make sure and bring plenty of cash because they don't take credit cards!

He also gave us the skinny on hiking the Samaria Gorge and provided plenty of ice and Raki upon our return!

Athena's Mom, which we are sad to say we cannot recall was also very helpful. You definitely need a car. I also enjoyed hiking around the area. I felt safe here. However, I would not recommend the "traditional" café across the street. We got back late one night and we were hungry and the hotel kitchen was closed, so we walked over to the café...arghhh...the worst pizza I have ever had!

The breakfast buffet was awesome, the pool is beautiful and the rooms were very nice.

Room Tip: Our room was 123; which is close to the main lobby and pool area...which would allow us to get Wi-Fi...

We spent a week in the RIMONDI GRAND, a very special holiday resort in the style of a Cretan village, surrounded by olivewoods and with a wonderful view to the sea. We stayed in a villa with private swimming pool. The houses and villas are furnished to a high level and are surrounded by beautiful gardens. The beds are of the highest quality. We enjoyed the large outdoor dining terrace, the kitchen is excellent and the service in the restaurant and in the hotel is very good and very friendly. The Rimondi Grand resort offers an exceptional holiday with a high recreation value, it is a well run hotel and gives guests the feeling of high standards.
The hotel offers a shuttle service to the beach which is axccessible in 5 minutes by car. We have rented a car and visited mountain villages, monasteries and enjoyed the beauty of the island.

The Rimondi Grand was a great base for our short holiday visit to Crete. The room was clean, with a comfy bed, great bathroom, and sitting area with cool AC. The pool had a great view of the sea. Breakfast was a great value, with a large buffet choice to fit all tastes. Friday night was "Greek night," with dancers and entertainment by the pool. The manager and his family appeared to actually live at the resort, and it was nice to see all the interactions with the guests--made the visit more "homely".
You do need a car to fully experience Crete from this resort. It's about a 3km walk to the beach (though I do believe there is a shuttle), and heading further up the hill you are among olive trees and citrus groves (breathtaking views).
We will definitely return!

Room Tip: The rooms use actual "keys" versus electronic cards. To save energy, the AC will not work...

My wife and I had the privilege to spend a wonderful week in a fantastic resort in Rethymno. Rimondi Grand is a unique resort in an amazing quiet place full of olive trees. Excellent food from a talented chef, clean rooms, great service from all the stuff a great pool with nice bar and an excellent bartneder and a unique spa. Massage is a must at this resort! We will definitely visit Rimondi again!

The hotel and Service are excellent, but the food is less so. Why have sugared orange drink instead of real orange juice in Crete which grows millions of oranges?? The watery coffee could be improved on. Maybe an espresso machine would help? I have had better breakfasts in "lesser" hotels.

The hotel was built in a nice location with good views. It is however away from the beach and restaurants and you will need a car or you will be "grounded". The final touches are lacking and you can see that shortcuts were taken when finishing the resort (our room had two badly repaired water leaks).

The Internet is very poor and not working most of the time. In our unit there was only signal on the back patio at some hours of the day. During peak hours the network simply crashes and does not respond at all. In today's environment this should be a given and is simple enough to get right and should just work.

The rooms are noisy as you can hear all your neighbours due to poor insulation of the units. There is also an annoying light sensor in the passage that goes on every time you go to the bathroom and this can goes very bright in the middle of the night if you get up.

The pillows are uncomfortable.

Nice swimming pool.

I don't think this deserves a four stars as stated at the entrance. There are basics missing (i.e. kettle, safe).

the Spa is excellent and the massages are very good.

We found this holiday on Voyage Prive and when we arrived we were shocked as to how high up in the hills we were and we were totally reliant upon the hotel mini bus!

It said in the advert that there was a private beach but it failed to say that this was 20 min ride away down hll... once there, there was one restaurant by the beach - nothing much to write home about.

The hotel itself was new and so not much to moan abut decor wise. The pool was lovely too.

The best bit of the holiday was the Restaurant Manager who fell over himself to do whatever he could to please.

Not bad for a remote break but not good for single travellers and infirm people.
