The location is fine. It is just minutes away from the beach and also about 10 minutes leisurely stroll from the Old Town. We were there in October , when the season is winding down , so it was relatively quiet in the area. It might be much noisier in the height of the season. A couple of convenience shops are close by but there are stacks of restaurants and bars too. The hotel has a restaurant too and the food is Ok but not gourmet. Service is excellent and the rooms are spotless. we had a room on the 3rd floor and the bathroom was tiny. The pool in not heated but it did not matter as the weather required us to cool down.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the road. it is not a noisy place but Crete is plagued by motor bikes an...

First impressions were good then it went downhill. Rooms are large but no ambience, decor is cold and stark colours, furniture is cheap, towels threadbare, sheets that do not fit the bed, constantly damp in the room on our bedding and our clothes, the Hotel itself generally noisy, old outdated plumbing etc. The Hotel is in a very built up area surrounded by apartments blocks and other Hotels, one block back from a very long sandy beach.
Our room was on the ground floor on the main road side of the Hotel, constant noise from traffic 24/7 and every morning at 4am the Refuse truck awakened us. Could not open curtains at all as people walk by @ 6ft away from the windows. Whilst the room was large the bathroom was the smallest Hotel bathroom I have ever been in. You had to be constantly aware of not breaking elbows when drying yourself, as the proximity of the door and the toilet basin are dangerously close to each other. The basin area was so small that they was nowhere to place toiletries, the hair dryer was just a hollow tube with no control settings and after @ 3minutes had to be held with a towel as it very hot. The kitchenette area was directly behind the main door entrance and very dangerous. No tea/coffee available, you had to buy this yourself, no iron/board except upon request.
Breakfast buffet, adequate good selection. We only ate dinner once in the Hotel "Greek Night", the food was cold and not a very good selection, the waitress was trying to get us to buy 38Euro bottles of wine and would not take NO for an answer, in the end we had to be quite forceful to get her to go away and bring back a reasonable price wine. Entertainment was good, dancing, singing, the belly dancer was excellent. Bar staff were indifferent to guests and often away from their stations taking to other staff/friends.
Pool area was nice, tidy, well maintained, pool towels threadbare. Lunch selection by the pool was very good and generally staff were attentive during the day time hours

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the pool or be prepared to be woken at all hours with people walking by and the...

We stayed in the Bio Suites Hotel last week and it is certainly worthy of a recommendation.

We stayed in a Junior Suite on the second floor, which comprised a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen/dining room. The room included a kettle, coffee percolator, microwave, fridge, two air-conditioning units. We didn't eat in, but having the fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, plates and cups etc. was a good bonus. The room was very spacious and clean (cleaned each day). The towels were regularly changed, with towels provided for the pool. Complimentary slippers were also included. Beds were very comfortable. Shower gel, hand wash and washing up liquid were provided. The room had a safe, which cost an additional €1.50 a day. All-in-all, the room was great.

We stayed bed and breakfast, which I would recommend because there are great restaurants in the old town to try out. The breakfast had a great variety of food to choose from (served 7:30 - 10:15). One review commented on the fruit juice being more squash like, which is true, but it was OK. We only ate at the hotel on one evening (their Cretan Night) and the buffet was good. The entertainment was good fun, although the belly dancer was maybe a tadge erotic for a family evening. Staff were helpful and friendly.

The location of the hotel is great. A one or two minute walk takes you to the beach. There were lots of loungers, some attached to hotels, but you could use any of them. We were charged €6 on one day and €9 on another. The beach was clean, nice sand, with clear water.

A very safe ten minute walk or so and you are in the old town, which has loads of restaurants and cafes. It is my first time to Greece/Crete and the standard of the restaurants and their food was much better than I was expecting.

I have never returned to a previous destination or hotel because there are so many different places in this world to visit, but I can imagine if I was going away in October again, returning to Crete and the Bio Suite Hotel would be a possibility.

A few notes:

- No problems with the wifi, but we did have a router opposite our door.

- English guests were definitely in the minority, with most guests being German. It wasn't till day three that we came across another guest from the UK.

- Noise from the road wasn't normally a problem as the hotel is set back from the sea front road, however we were woken up a couple of times when the rubbish collecting trucks were doing their thing at 4:00 am in the morning. I don't know whether this happened every day and we just slept through it on the other occasions.

- After the rooms are cleaned there is a bleachy smell for a little while, although it soon goes when you open the doors to the balcony.

- There is a regular bus service to and from Rethymnon and the hotel is a 20-25 minute walk from the Bus Station.

- You are discouraged from flushing toilet paper down the toilets and instead encouraged to put the paper in the bin. This is the case in restaurants and I believe most hotels in Crete. Allegedly the pipes aren't that wide and they block easily (and to think how advanced the Greeks used to be). You may want to bring along some scented nappy sacks to comply with that one.

The Bio Suites Hotel is well situated, close to Rethymnon's beach and walking distance from the old town. The hotel has a big swimming pool, which was mostly not too crowded. The room felt as if it could do with a renovation and was not very well maintained. In addition, it was not always cleaned very thouroughly. As our room was on the street side, we were woken up every morning around 4am when they came to collect the garbage.

The breakfast was OK but were expecting more from a 4 star hotel (fresh juice was extra, cooked breakfast was buffet). Apart from a few exceptions, the personnel was not always very friendly and sometimes reacted indifferently (e.g. when we told them about a mistake in the bill).

Room Tip: Better to ask for a room on the inside and not on the street.

Wonderful hotel and great staff. Greek night awesome! Nice pool and great food. Very nice accommodations for five if us! Beach very close and beautiful. Perfect location for day trips and easy walk to Olde Towne and taverns.

Room Tip: Know location of pool and or street sides

> We arrived in the middle of the night after a two hour delay and the staff could not have been more helpful. It is spotlessly clean and the room was also clean and pleasant with welcoming fruit and wine. It is cleaned every day by helpful cleaning ladies and they give fresh towels every day. Air conditioning can be adjusted in each room. The staff are all very friendly and very competent throughout the hotel.
>
> It is a reasonable size hotel and so the breakfast includes a choice of everything. Cooked breakfast or various types of bread or fruit or cereal or yogurt .
>
>
> The Hotel is located in a great position one block from the beach and a ten minute stroll to the old town harbor where the main shops are. It is just outside of the harbor wall which means that the sandy beach has clean open warm water.
> There is a big pool and a toddler pool and plenty of sun beds. The pool and bar staff are very helpful and fun. We ended up having lunch in the hotel almost every day as it was right near the shops and beach so we could just pop back.
>
> We mostly ate out in the evening, that is when the town comes to life. Everyone strolling down the street in the cooler warm evening looking at all the shops. There are lots of Greek taverns to choose from serving delicious food. Our only complaint was one of the harbor restaurants Palazzo where they tout the "fresh catch of the day". We were told that the fish was 25Euros per kilo which is pretty meaningless and we asked how much for one fish were told 27Euros for each fish. Therefore we specifically asked for half a fish each for four of us and it certainly did not taste fresh. We were then surprised to be given a bill for 150Euros; over twice what we were expecting. Presumably if we had had a fish each it would have topped 200 Euros. There is a weighting for sitting in the pretty harbor but this was three to four times our average meal price. It was too late to weigh the two fish. There were some another misunderstandings in this restaurant which did not work to our advantage eitherand we came our feeling a bit raw and a lot poorer.

> We mostly returned to the hotel after dinner and sometimes caught the end of the entertainment or went for a swim in the pool. We caught the greater part of a conjurer who was good. Birds, rabbit,s and ropes and hankies appearing and disappearing. We stayed in the hotel for Greek Night which was really excellent value and great fun. They had four professional Greek dancers who were extremely competent and could jump about doing all sorts of stuff. They had a belly dancer which was greatly appreciated by my teenage son. She was really good and more dancing in a ring of fire; there were some children and an old man and even the manager of the Hotel - all had a turn which gave it a family feeling. Then they got all the guests up to join in some of those simple Greek dances. My family tend to be quite reserved and normally won't do this sort of thing but because almost everyone was going round the hotel pool and bar in a long happy line mine felt safety in numbers so joined in. The more extrovert had their own chance to dance on a table at the end. We stayed for two weeks and did this evening twice.
>
>
> The beach. We really enjoyed this beach for swimming it was so refreshing; the water is invigorating and clean. There are three grades red flag yellow and green about a third each Green days are low waves and gentle water. Yellow makes it fun with waves to jump over and into. Red is only on the edge as the drag is quite strong but the sea was so so refreshing - it is sand all the way in and so you can stand on your feet and so you can play in the waves without getting knocked onto stone - there are life guards. There is not a lot of choice on water sport though paraglidinga and jet skiing. For that we were told you have to go directly south We didnt bother
>
> We recommend this hotel and hope to return one day.

Room Tip: We were very happy with our room It was what was described We did ask for a pool view and got that

We stayed here for 2 nights. It was a central meeting place for us and it was the best choice! The hotel owner, George, was extremely helpful and hospitable. The hotels location is great. One street back from the beach and the Main Street. Would return to this property!
