We stayed there with our 12 year old, and loved everything about this hotel. Super friendly staff, excellent buffet meals, terrific rooms and only two blocks to the beach with plenty of very good restaurants withing a short walk. Also, the walk along the shop filled promenade to delightful Old Town Rethymo is only about 15 minutes. I highly recommend the Atrium Hotel.

Just returned from a week in Rethymno staying at the Atrium. The hotel was very clean, spacious and relaxing. We were always welcomed warmly by the staff and they all made a big fuss of our 3 year old son. Rooms were more than adequate in terms of space and the bathroom was also a fair size. Breakfast was ok, plenty of choice. Dinner was traditional, was nice to go to a buffet-style hotel that didn't churn chips out every night. The pool side bar was a lovely area to relax with the very nice 'vin de Crete', a delicious dry White wine which we enjoyed a fair few bottles of! The bar staff all so friendly, particularly Oggy.
The hotel was in a good spot opposite the beach and a pleasant 20-30 min stroll to the old town/harbour.
Word of advice, DO NOT visit the advertised 'baja beach' area which they offer a free bus to...the pool had a dead mouse floating in it and was filthy!
All in all, a lovely week and would certainly recommend to a friend.

We stayed last year in this hotel and we were very nice surprised for this 3star hotel. Room was excellent, big enough for a couple, bathroom big and nice and huge balcony for enjoying the nice Cretan nights. Double bad had a radio over our heads, like in some 50's movie. Food was ....!!! I've got 3kg for sure, that's saying how we liked the breakfest&dinner's. Try - ENOTRIA Organic Regional Cretan Dry White Wine ,they serve it in the hotel.

A little walk to the beach (hire 2 chairs and 1 umbrella 7 euro for 1 day) and to the center (lot of shopping)
People who can't do staires cannot go there !

stayed at the Atrium this October 2010, decent size room, and bathroom, very clean as was the whole hotel. Food was buffet style, and very good, plenty of choice, even had a cretean night with their own specialities.
service from all the staff was really good.
They also had entertainment every other night which we did not expect. overall an excellent small hotel, very good value for money
About 15 minutes pleasant stroll from the old town. Beach just across the road. Also bus service outside hotel
On returning home we realised we had left the camera in the hotel room, telephoned the hotel who said they had found it, and said they would return it to us , they did and we received it in the post in less than a week. what service!.

If you are looking for a nice place to stay, close to the beach as weel as to the city center, hotel Atrium is a good choice. Just few minutes away from the sandy beach and about 30 minutes of easy walk to the old town. Very good 3-star hotel, it offered much more than I expected! It's well maintained, clean, with nice rooms (aircondition and fridge included), good food, helpfull staff - you will have nothing to complain about. Definitely good value for money. Rooms overlooking the main street can be a bit noisy. I had a birthay during my stay, and guess what? Whan I got back to my room in the evening, a birthay cake with a greeting card was on the table! Really a pleasant surprise!
Rethymno is a good choice for staying, a very romantic place you can enjoy during the day and at night. Also a good position because you are relatively close to everything else worth seeing on the island.
The hotel is just few minutes of walk from the Rethyimno port, so don't miss your chance to go to Santorini, it's breathtaking! You will remember your vacation for a long time, like I do.
