“Just Lovely”
Reviewed 30 July 2013

We choose the Palazzo Vecchio from recommendations on this site. We are very pleased we did. From the moment we confirmed of our reservation we received extremely good and personal attention. On arrival we were welcomed and shown to our suite which was on the top floor. The suite was well furnished, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The bedroom was air conditioned with a very quiet and efficient unit. The location is in a quiet area within walking distance from the old town making it very convenient for the numerous restaurants and bars located there. We found the buffet breakfasts to be very good with quality fresh ingredients. The building itself has been thoughtfully restored.

We would like to thank all the people working at the Palazzo Vecchio for making our stay so enjoyable and a special thanks to Thanassis. He was always ready to help and advise and gave us very good recommendations for local restaurants based on his extensive experience in the hotel and restaurant business.

This was our first visit to Crete (and to Greece) and we pleasantly surprised by the value and quality of the food. Most restaurants served a number of “traditional cretan dishes” which we found to be very good.

We would have no hesitation in recommending the Palazzo Vecchio.

Thanks again.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 relaxing weeks. Thank you Mr T, Angela and the girls for making our stay so wonderful.
Mr T's recommendations for restaurants and site visits were always spot on, both he and Angela went out of their way to make sure everything was Ok at all times.
Breakfast every morning is plentiful and healthy with local produce (I recommend the excellent yoghurt) also muesli, cornflakes, fresh breads, croissants, fresh fruits, teas and good strong coffee.
Hotel situated just across from the police station so it's very safe. Hardly any crime in the area. Cretans and tourists alike are very helpful.
Beach is 7 minutes away with clear and warm waters.
Hotel is away from busy tourist strip but very easily accessible by walk if you manage not to be too distracted by the lovely little shops and tavernas along the way.
7/7 supermarket is 5 minutes walk away
Local Mythos beer is excellent
All in all, unforgettable

An excellent hotel: Clean, spacious and comfortable rooms. Beautiful patio with a pool. Very nice staff. Great location in the heart of the old city, near the beach and the port. Good breakfast. Nice for families. Would highly recommend.

We stayed at the Palazzo Vecchio for 10 nights in early July, the holiday was a joy from start to finish. The hotel is very tastefully decorated, with a beautiful courtyard - where a substantial breakfast is served and spotlessly clean throughout. Our hosts Angela and Thanassis gave us a very warm welcome and were always available to service our queries or needs. All staff were bright, cheerful and friendly, which was an absolute joy.

The hotel has an excellent location on the edge of the old town, with a 10 to 15 minute walk on an evening through the tiny interesting streets to a multitude of restaurants and bars. This is a very cool resort, with excellent restaurants and a lovely relaxed feel and a fabulous safe beach.

I can't recommend Palazzo Vecchio highly enough and look forward to returning.

We stayed at the Palazzo Vecchio for a week in June. We loved it from the moment we arrived. The staff were, without exception, welcoming and helpful. Our host gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants and excursions, and was always ready to answer our questions or queries about Crete and the Cretan way of life. We stayed in the suite (double room, living room/kitchen); it was cool, quiet and spacious and the decor and wood panelling lent it a true Venetian feel. Breakfasts in the courtyard by the pool were a delight, varied and plentiful. We loved the hotel's location in the old town, at the foot of the fortezza, and 50 metres from the sea. We intend to return, soon.

We stayed at Palazzo Vecchio for 6 nights this June. We loved the hotel - the courtyard area was lovely and the rooms (between three of us we had one double room and a single room) were beautiful. The double room had a kitchenette, dining table and a sofa, with free AC and wifi. The staff were great - extremely friendly, welcoming and more than happy to provide tips on where to go (we got lots of good dinner recommendations!) Location is also good; by the old town, which has a great atmosphere and is lovely to wander around. The Fortress is right on the hotel's doorstep. The beach is 15 minute walk away, but this was close enough for us.

All in all - a wonderful hotel!
