“Beautiful Building in the Heart of Rethymnon”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Leo for three nights very recently and had a great stay. The building itself is very beautiful - each room is unique and well decorated. We were on the second floor, in a room with a double balcony. We were facing the street, but had no concerns regarding noise. The A/C worked very well; though you have to activate the electricity with your room key (so nothing runs while you're out of the room), it cooled off quickly and was never an issue, even though it was brutally hot outside! The free wifi also worked perfectly in our room.
The location of Hotel Leo was exactly what we wanted. It is about a 3 minute walk from the harbor, surrounded by shops and restaurants. It is pretty tricky to find though, as cars cannot approach the hotel street. We wandered around for a while before someone was able to point us in the right direction! Once we were situated, though, it was easy to find our way back again and again.
We only ate the breakfast once and wouldn't consider it anything special, though the courtyard you eat it in is quite beautiful. The staff were lovely and helpful. We would definitely return to Hotel Leo in the future!

Room Tip: We loved our room. I don't remember the number, but it's on the second floor, faces the str...

This hotel is centrally located in Rethymnon so is great to explore the city from. The uniqueness of the hotel (being a refurnished old mansion) was incredible and we really enjoyed our stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

We stayed two nights in Rethymnon which was plenty. The hotel was perfectly located in old town with everything at your doorstep. The Hotel is beautifully renovated and rooms are very nice and furnished with quality fittings. My only complaint is we booked for 3 single beds and were given a king and a fold out chair that my 21 year old 6ft soon had to sleep on which was very uncomfortable for him. The breakfast was simple but very nice and made fresh to order. The staff are friendly. I would ask for a top floor room as being only three storey you can hear noise from the restaurants below but was ok for us but I wouldn't want to be lower if you go to bed earlier and are a light sleeper.

Eleni and Athena were the two managers that were really helpful and friendly and always available to answer our questions.

This hotel was highly recommended to us by our travel agent and we could see why it was so. The hotel is an old reconstructed Venetian building and has less than 10 rooms in total. Since it is an old building there is no elevator to go up but Athena was kind enough to help lift our luggage up the stairs. The room was very nice, clean and not like your average hotel room in that it had high ceilings, brick walls, windows you can open and a huge bathroom. The hotel is in the very center of all the attractions, restaurants and shops and the beach is within walking distance. Our room was facing the area above the breakfast tables and it was pretty quiet and we slept comfortably.

Although the choice for breakfast was limited to 10 or so items, we really enjoyed having it and it was enough to keep us full till lunch. Along with the main breakfast, we got fresh orange juice, tea or coffee, fruits, breads and cookies.

You will find the hotel in a small narrow street direct in the old town. The hotel itself and the rooms are really nice. Each room is different. The rooms are quiet and modern equipped. But you are right in the middle of the city, it could be a bit louder in summer. The breakfast is alright and will be served in the street in front of the hotel. It is easy to find a parking space in front of the Fortezza (walking distance 500 m).

The staff is really friendly and helpful.

My wife and I stayed at the Leo Hotel in Old Town for four days in May. We had a very well appointed and large room on the second floor. The room was very quiet and clean. The free Wi-Fi worked well. We were served a made-to-order breakfast every morning at a table beneath the bougainvillea vines! What made our stay exceptional was THE STAFF who were always there to help, not only with the luggage but with great advice for restaurants, sightseeing and taxi’s. We highly recommend the Leo Hotel and would love to return.

I am a bit late in making this review but I wanted to pass on my recommendation. My Husband and I stayed here in September 2012. Quite simply the rooms were absolutely stunning. it is perfectly located for all beach restaurant ans shopping fun - plus there was always a great supply of parking very nearby. I loved the town, and I loved staying here it see it all. Definitely a superb choice.
