When booking this hotel we expected 5'star luxury but it is much more like a good 3'star hotel.
The images on the official site are true but they are very deceiving. All the images make everything seem much larger and grander. (This was also the view of all the other holidaymakers that we spoke to). Dont get me wrong everything was ok but not to the level that we had expected
The staff were all very nice and as helpful as they could be. Although little explanation of why the poolside bar wasnt open until july.
The hotel is well located on the beach front which has lots of tavernas, supermarkets etc and is a short 20 minute walk upto the harbour/oldtown. We prefered the bars up near the fortress in the harbour as they were much livelier although more expensive.
The room/apartment we stayed in was very nice, it was facing the pool at the back of the development. It had an unusually well equiped kitchen, (dishwasher, microwave, oven, hob, full set of kitchen knives etc) which was definitely not needed. Upstairs there was a nice fourposter bed, but you couldnt move on it due to the noise it made. The bathroom was large with two sinks, jacuzzi bath with overhead shower. The room had big windows with a nice view of the pool, but this also meant that everyone at the poolside could look straight in. Hence everyone having their curtains closed.
The food was adequate for half board, but again not what you would expect of a 5'star establishment. Not much choice and nothing was labelled, so you always had to ask what things were.
The large indoor pool is actually really small and only partly covered and its not heated Also as it is part of the spa you have to pay 10euros to use it (never saw anyone use it)
The gym also has a large fee of 15euros which was to the dismay of fellow holidaymakers.
The beach is right opposite the hotel but the area which was dedicated to hotel residents was in need of a good clean, full of washed up debris and pebbles and most importantly it only has about 20 sunloungers, so get up early if you want one. We would recommend the beach further up by the harbour as it is much nicer.
Overall we had a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday, which is just what we wanted and we met some very nice people. We would recommend this hotel to others if the price was inline with other 3'star hotels.
