“A unique experience”

It was my first time in Astypalaia and the hotel was just perfect. Apart from being close to Chora, its great facility and the great clean room that provide, the hotel’s staff are stars. Their friendly approach and their advices for the island (beaches, restaurants, etc) were more than accurate making my experience on the island unique.

Everything was perfectly set for a relaxing experience in the beautiful island of Astypalaia. Location was very convinient with stunning view, room was lovely with modern details like a Nespresso coffee maker and welcome treats. Hotel facilities were quite luxurious but still in harmony with the island's traditional style. All employees seemed very polite and attentive. Overall, I think it can stand up to the expectations of even the most demanding traveller.

Overall I liked this hotel but with a few reservations.

First impressions were not good. We had arranged a transfer from the airport but when we arrived there was no one to greet us. I had to search for the driver in the car park and ask for the lift, which wasn't particularly welcoming. I realise he was dealing with other (VIP?) guests at the time but why not wait for everyone from the flight to arrive first, before allocating cars? The same man dropped us off at the port without saying a word.

The hotel has a very good location - an easy, level walk to the Chora and a similar distance to the beach. Whilst we had a sea view, it wasn't spectacular as our room also looked over the rest of the hotel buildings and was itself overlooked by a bend in the road behind.

The room was spacious and very well equipped with quality furnishings and products. The bathroom on the level below was enormous.

However the air condtioning was inadequate for the size of room and barely made any difference. The fridge was not working properly and gave out so much heat from behind that we had to unplug it. A member of staff was aware of the problem but the fridge was never repaired or replaced during our stay.

The breakfast was very extensive and tasty. There may have ben a cafe but I saw no sign of a menu.

I think this is my main concern - in early June the island is very quiet indeed and not all the facilities are open, either at the hotel or in the town. There is so much available accommodation in the area that I felt stupid reserving a room so far in advance, especially before the rates were dropped just a few weeks before our stay.

To their credit the hotel did charge us the lower rates on check-out, but only after we had requested they do so. An earler e-mail enquring about the lowering of rates and their "lowest price guarantee" was completlely ignored.

This is a really stylish hotel in a good location between Hora and livadi. The rooms are fantastic and varied in style. They also offer the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in!
Whilst travelling to the island we emailed the hotel and even though it was late evening and we were arriving at the port at 3 am Natasha responded and arranged a taxi to collect us and checked us into the room-outstanding service!
Everything about this hotel made us happy to be there. Service, breakfast, style, views, bar-perfect.
Astypalia is sometimes described as the end of the world. If so then bring it on!

We had an excellent stay at Pylaia hotel for a whole week in August. The hotel is located at the outskirts of the Chora with view to the sea and partially to the castle. We had a very beautiful and spacious room with an impresive underground bathroom. The room was cleaned twice a day. The general service is excellent and everybody very helpful and friendly, always smilling. The breakfast is very well with some different delicasies every day. Some additional staff may be needed; it would help the current staff be cooler! It is also worth to taste at least once the creative cuisine of the restaurant.

It is a totally misleading internet page they have, the hotel is far away from what they advertise them selfs to be. The rooms are one very close to another, they hardly have any windows, the swimming pool makes a very annoying noise the whole time, but the worst thing of all is that the stuff is absolutely unprofessional and very often rude with the clients. Specially the reception is clueless and not sophisticated at all. The location is good, but not us good as it shows in photos and the breakfast is quite good, unfortunately the have this loud, tasteless music on all the time and that destroys everything. Definitely not a recommendation.
