“It's hard to get better”
Reviewed 20 August 2012

First of all the room was fantastic looking out onto the water. It was also stylised very well. The service was something else, very friendly and always accomodating. My favourite part was the owner playing his own music every night just before dinner. It set such a great atmosphere to hear the sounds as you sit out on the water just relaxing. I really wanted to go back again this year but it wasn't possible.

It's the sort of place I could imagine a writer just chilling out at for months, but probably not end up writing because he'd be too busy playing with the turtle that hangs around the front.

Room Tip: The top ones overlooking the water with the balcony.

We only stayed a few short days at this lovely spot but wish we had stayed longer. The rooms are very comfortable and the situation is perfect, just a short stroll along the sea side promenade to the taverna's and various small boats for hire. You can dive into the turqouis transperant harbour and swim with the turtles right in front of the hotel (about 3 metres from you front door). The view both night and day is wonderful and the short boat rides to the nearby blue cave and St Georges Island are nothing short of spectacular. It is a quiet and pristine place where you can relax, eat well and regain your sense of well being. Voula and Yannis are very helpful and friendly hosts in this laid back paradise. The houses around the harbour offer a beautiful multicoloured contrast to the clear blue sea and the stark, high mountain backdrop The island is very close to Turkey if you want to take a short boat ride over and visit on market day (Fridays). "Kazzie" has an amazing and quite turbulent history which you can learn about in the little mosque at the entrance to the harbour. We thoroughly recomend the Hotel Kastellorizo for an amazing visit to a most unique part of Greece.

Room Tip: The harbour front rooms are the way to go..but it is only a matter of metres to the harbour from all...

We have stayed for 6 wonderful nights nights overlooking the beautiful harbor on the waters edge, at this very good hotel. Good value for money, very clean & we had separate sleeping area upstairs. Whilst there is newer accommodation nearby this recently renovated hotel , is in a perfect position just oppositethe main eating area. Good breakfast & good support staff. Better to stay just opposite the main eating area as it can be very noisy @ 3. A M when you are trying to sleep. AND no I am not getting paid for this I just want to pass this on to everyone to experience my1st time where my ancestors came from.

Room Tip: Have a room with upstairs seating on the ground floor & this reserves the chairs @ the waters ed...

Well, I would agree with some previous negative remarks:

1) The breakfast is a real issue. The hotel owners have not understood that hotels are not summer camps, and that the guests come to relax, and not to fill in documents in advance stating what they would like to have for the next morning...
2) I also had the coffee problem described by another guest. Hot instant coffee is included in the room' s price, cold shaken coffee (frappee) is not, and charged 3,5 Euros!! No matter that I explained that it had been my favourite coffee and notwithstanding the fact that they charge 130 Euros per night!
3) They even spare the money for the mosquito repellant tablets, although they do provide the appliance!

And something else: they know that the taxi (from the airport) is going to leave you in a good distance from the hotel (the boat even further), and, yet, they do not provide for help with the luggage...

They boast for their famous clients in their website, although the majority of the persons listed as "celebrities" are at least, hmmmm, questionable..... And I was wondering: would they also charge the President of the Hellenic Republic an extra 3,5 Euros amount for the cold shaken coffee? (!)

Although the rooms are clean and spacious , the above are enough to make you a bad mood, and I think that this is equally important on a holiday trip....

They are even pride, as another customer wrote, for the way they obtained property of the land where they built the hotel... Inheritance from an old lady they took care of. Well, hmmm, it does not a very honorable way to acquire a property.

Considering the above, it is really a misdemeanour that they do not offer a receipt by themselves, unless you request it...

What is sure is that they strongly rely on the location of the hotel (at see level with great view over the harbour). Under different ciscumstances, they would not withstand any competition...

We stayed at the hotel with my wife in July 2011 and we were pleasantly surprised! The room (A4) was spacious, very clean and so close to the sea that we could almost touch it. Voula and Giannis were great and ever so hospitable, playing the piano and serving delicious breakfast. We highly recommend this hotel to everyone!
