What a shame

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 22 Sept 2011
Could be a good experience. Food was awful. Wireless internet just at reception , very slow, very weak. Service pretty poor, had to ask three times for a kettle , for extra cushions. Pools excellent, beach good but no chairs available when we wanted,.
Health club unfriendly and good but old equipment. Very limited tourist info.
Rooms very comfortable and clean. Could be good with attention to detail.Oh, and no blackout curtains so my wife could not sleep well...
Date of stay: September 2011
Room Tip: Get one away from main pool area.a short walk but much quieter

My family (2 adults, 5-year + toddler) stayed in the hotel for a week on All-inclusive basis.
The room was really spacious and clean. I liked the way the bathroom, the sink and the toilet were 3 different areas so we could use them on the same time.
The pools are big and nice, the beach is very nice.
It could be a perfect holiday, but…
My main complaint is the food, it's un-tasty, un-healthy, fried, dried, pretty much the same food all the way. The drinks…why they call them juices?
Even the desserts and the ice cream was not tasty.
We tried the la-carte restaurants and we do liked the pizzas in the Italian pizza pasta restaurant, but all again the desserts were just disgusting.
Same drinks in la-carte restaurants…

Kid's club is more like a storage room for animation team stuff: tiny, no AC, no toys. Open 2 hours in morning and 2 hours in the afternoon.
One little water-slide in one of the kids pools.
No kid's channel (any language) on the TV. We got a portable DVD with cable from home and get it connected to TV.

Pool towels are can't be changed by the pool. You have to get them dry, so don't forget to bring a rope with you.
3 euro for a beach sun bed per day and be ready to wake up early to get one (Russians are getting them free).

Overall, I would say it could be a 5* stars hotel someday, but not now.

We stayed at the marmari palace on august 2011 for 5 nights (all inclusive). We are a couple with a 3 years old and a baby. The room was spacious and with a balcony to one of the pools. The TV is old and small and no channels for english speaking guests (only greek, german and russian). The pools are very nice and well maintained. There are many polls for children and although the hotel was fully booked the pools were quite empty because of the number and large selection.
The down side of this hotel and the reason i won't visit there again or recommend it to my friends is the food. It's taseless and it seems they attempt to ruin it more and more. The baked muffins, cookies ets. are difficult to swallow and taste bad. The pastas at lunch are over cooked and the sauces are tasteless. At dinner the meat is overdone and dry (even in the greek restaurant there). We tasted real food outside when we traveled by ourselves. The greek kitchen is great. we could hardly eat anything in the hotel afterwards. Lucky for us there was a good resturant next to the hotel (Tam Tam).
The soft drinks are horrible- Syrup with suger with CO2 added. I saw the barman taste the "cola" and almost threw up,

I stayed in the Marmari Palace Hotel in July 2011. Everything was perfect: the food, the ste staff, the room. The great thing is you can go to the beach, to the swimming pool or to take a bus to the Kos capitol; whereby the bus stop is just 3min from the reception. If you want to, you can take advantage of the internet connection close to the reception. What to say more? Marmari Palace is a large sunny area of swimming pools, friendly people and picturesque Egeyan views!

We have never been to such a poor quolity and bad service hotel. Bellow you can find an official complaint that we have forwarded o the hotel and our Tourist company with photos.
'Dear management of the hotel Marmari Palace!
We kindly ask you to review our complaint and do something to improve our condition while staying at your hotel.
We are the guests, travelling by “Le Grand”.
Date of check inn – 11.06.2011. During the first day of our staying here we were provided with the room which quality does not correspond to the level of 5-star hotel. There were several problems with that room:
1) Air conditioner was located directly under our heads. It was not possible to regulate the air flow to any other direction. That is why we were forced to open the balcony door during the night.
2) Mosquito net was absent in our room, though it was visualized in most of other rooms. As we opened the door the first night we were bitten by mosquitoes and could not sleep nearly all of the first night.
3) The room we were provided with belonged to type “Family room” with the door that separates our room from another (connected rooms). We heard every step of our neighbors (while they were taking shower, coming in and out of the room, talking).
4) The furniture in the room was old and it did not work properly: the drawers and the door of wardrobe were probably broken as it was hard to open and close it. We could not use the furniture.
5) The dressing-gowns were not in our room, though they are mentioned in the description of the hotel. During our first day of staying we were told that in the hotel Marmari Palace dressing gowns are not included.
We asked the staff of the reception to change our room on the 12.06.2011. The first reaction was very emotional. We were asked to stop talking. We were connected to ex-tour leader Julia and described the situation to her. She did her best for us in order the room to be changed.
The next day on the 13.06.2011 we had another room on the ground floor.
The problems in that room were the following:
1) The air was wet, there was a smell because of wet furniture.
2) There was a locust in the room with the length of 6 sm (we made several photos) and there were bugs, spider (or a tick?) there.
As we became very nervous of that kind of creatures in our room we asked the staff of the reception to change the room once again.
We were offered to change that room to another which is above the ventilation devise of the hotel. Unfortunately we could not sleep in that room. We really tried to stay there but it is impossible to do that even for one night because that noise disappears for a short period and then again starts for a long time. The level of air pollution is higher than acceptable level which may be harmless to the human.
Being in several different rooms we were able to match all of them and we can conclude that none of those rooms correspond to the level of 5-star hotel. More than that, we find it dangerous for our health to stay in such rooms.
Dear management of the Marmari Palace, we really hope that you will help us to solve the problem.
