The Eleni is everything we want it to be, quiet and relaxing with a touch of fun, right on the beach and close to all amenities. It is owned and run by the lovely Kypraios family, their excellent friendly staff and nothing is too much trouble for them to make your holiday an enjoyable one. It is spotlessly clean and the bar snacks are great. We have been returning to the Eleni for the past nine years, usually twice a year in June and September but this year 2014 we have decided to make it three times and come at Easter. It has to be good for us to keep returning. Since we started coming to Tilos and staying at the Eleni we have met some wonderful people from all walks of life and nationalities whom we are pleased to call friends. We would certainly recommend the Eleni for a great holiday.

We stayed here for two weeks in October, on a package with Sunvil. By the end of the holiday we were the only guests as Tilos was gearing-down for the winter - though we had beautiful hot sunny days for the most part, with low humidity. The staff were friendly with mostly reasonable English and any small problems were sorted out for us. We did in fact also have a more major problem at one point due to water dripping from a storage tank onto our balcony, but this was cured with a room change when we pointed out what was happening - the real test of any business is when things go wrong, and in this case Eleni Beach passed the test, so you can't ask for more, I think. Some of the fittings, e.g. shower were a bit basic but OK. There was a TV with satellite downstairs if you wanted it. The best feature is probably the spitting-distance from the sea, and the fact it's on the wonderful island of Tilos of course, which me and my girlfriend still pine for!

We loved the gentle walk along the pedestrian and occasion bicycle and scooter route from the harbour where Michaelis met us and took our luggage to the hotel. Its position is superb, right on the beach, our room, 34, was simple, charming, immaculately clean, mercifully without television. The balcony overlooked the beach, there we enjoyed our morning tea and evening wine. Breakfasts were good, served by the indefatigable iDemetria on the terrace, a lovely setting where we met other guests who had been there before, and shared their knowledge of places to go, transport and restaurants. The sea was warm and clear, I swam daily before breakfast which was at the civilised hour of 8.30 - 10.00. Sun loungers were provided for hotel guests, umbrellas put up, and there was a bar available for snacks and drinks. When Michaelis saw us buy tea, he also runs the mini market, he asked if we'd like a kettle. When we got back there was iDemetria with a kettle and cups. She also cleaned the rooms, still working mid-afternoon when we got back from a trip for our second swim of the day. It was a wonderful holiday, one week was far too short, we shall be back.

I agree with most of comments top notch , ideal place , stones throw to sea, pedestrian track in front of hotel, apart from a few bikes or scooters a day. very helpful ,friendly staff,
would go back again. A hook or 2 to hang towels would be good, also a choice at breakfast , and filter cofee would make it perfect

Room Tip: top floor room with sea view in case of obstruction by parasols

Stayed at type eleni for a week before moving on to another island, rooms are very spacious, modern bathroom and unusual for Greek rooms, comfortable beds. Our room had a lovely sea view and the pebbly beach is just across the path in front of the hotel. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and found the breakfasts typically Greek, ie yogurt and honey, omelette, toast etc. The hotel has the best location in the village being just far enough out of the village to be peaceful , directly on the beach and just a short walk into the village centre for the various tavernas.

Another visit and yet this still remains the place to relax. Once the adjustment to Greek time is made and we allowed ourselves to be embraced back into the family it was as if we had never been away.

The welcome and ambience is indeed special and this accompanied by the location still remains very hard to beat. Both Michalis and Costa personalise their touch and befriend old and new travellers in exactly the same way. Delightful and once again we cannot wait to go back.

Room Tip: We always try and book one of the first floor rooms fronting the bay. The view alone is worth the pr...

Whilst the location and the genuinely charming family remain a real plus the cracks are now beginning to show - in the original building (by far the best spot/view) the 70s plastic bathroom fittings are now brittle and rickety...the lack of a shower curtain or shower holder means that the bathroom is awash with water (and treacherous underfoot) every time a shower is taken! Our room wasn't as clean as we've come to expect from the Eleni - really dirty under the bed and cobwebs complete with spiders behind bedside drawers...the poor overstretched cleaning lady who works flat out dawn till dusk simply can't cope with the task...there used to be more cleaning staff in previous years? The eccentric 'charm' of the poor breakfasts has now worn off and the addition of a slice of very poor quality (think Aldi 'value' range!) spam and processed cheese only serves to remind you that you get far better elsewhere. We've championed and recommended the Eleni for years but (and we feel disloyal saying this) sadly can't do so any more - you can get better service for your money elsewhere.

Room Tip: Stay in the new block if possible - we've stayed there twice before and had a great time and whi...
