...when the girls welcome you back (even though they've only met you a couple of times). The food and view are lovely but it's really the welcoming atmosphere that would draw you back - not just to the Olive Tree but the Island.

If you make it up the Cali Strata (it's easy - just do as the donkeys do and zig zag your way up) you have pop in to the Olive Tree...it'll be your first of many visits.

“Charming café in Symi”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014

This island is a sailor/hikers/diver’s dream… Begin your exploration of this beautiful place on the kalistrata, a set of stone step pathways relieved by occasional flat areas that lead upward to dozens old homes with deteriorating balconies overloaded with petunias, bouganvillea and cats. Lots of cats. The hills are peppered with monasteries, each resplendent in their blue, pale peach, earthy colored facades. Finding the main pathway up the hill is a fairly easy task… head up from the center of the port and the staircase starts off and veers fairly quickly to the left. Look for ‘kalistrata’ painted on the wall, just past a bar/café on your left. Work your way up the approximately 350 steps, with its intermittent flat areas – and you will arrive at several small cafes. A must stop, either on the way up or the way down, is the Olive Tree café, owned and run by three delightful British transplants. Go through the gate and sit either inside or in the small patio with umbrellas… a large Mythos beer hits the spot, as does a glass of cold, local wine! They offer various and sundry universal snacks, and are a delight as they share their own stories and explain the historic background of Symi island. Definitely worth a stop!

“Big Smiles and great juices, well worth the walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2014

After the 300 odd steps this pretty little garden cafe was just what we needed.

The ladies that run the olive tree are all smiles and very friendly to all that come in, locals and tourists alike.

We had the best juice I have ever had. The rehydrator. It was defiantly worth the walk to the top. We were so hydrated and full of va va voom that we then walked onto Pedi.

May even walk up for another :o)

“Great coffee and lovely fun and helpful staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2014

Lovely place for coffee and fresh juices in the mornings. Had a very 'all Brits together' feel which was quite nice and the lovely owners/ staff gave us great tips of where to go and what to do on the island. Would recommend for sure.
