“Valtos Beach Parga”
Reviewed 16 October 2013

An absolutely lovely hotel. It is family owned and they are so friendly and helpful. The rooms are modern and have splendid views onto the Beach. It is in a very picturesque spot. The hotel has high standards of cleanliness. The food is very good and plentiful and satisfies all tastes. There is a lovely pool and bar area adjacent to the main restaurant. However, there are a lot of steps up the rooms and it would not be suitable for anyone with mobility problems. To get into Parga itself you need to be able to walk up a steep incline. The taxis are cheap though to get back. There are other restaurants near the hotel for dining out but these tend to shut in October for the winter season. Another alternative would be to hire a car.

Room Tip: All rooms have a sea view but there are lots of steps to all the rooms.

We have just returned from one week at Valtos Beach Hotel. We booked with Thompson and had a self catering studio (126).

The only thing we can say bad about the place is the amount of steps up to your room...but that reflects more on our fitness level! Plus for the sea view from the balcony it was well worth it.

Our room had everything we needed plus some things we didn't (sandwich toaster, coffee maker and a microwave- a first for us in Greece!)

The shower was very small but we managed, the room was cleaned daily and fresh towels left. Overall the entire complex is very clean and impeccably looked after by Nikos and Christos.

We only had breakfast once and whilst choice was abundant it just isn't our bag...we prefer a bowl of cereals and coffee.

We also ate in the hotel on the first night (we arrived at about 9.30pm and was advised food was still available which was nice). The food was on a par with with the best restaurants in Parga and priced the same.

We also joined the Greek night which was very entertaining, unfortunately we were too tired to enjoy it having done the Meteora excursion (AMAZING!!) so were in bed by 9.30pm.

Other people walked into Parga and said it was a steep walk, we got a taxi which the hotel would call for us, €4 into Parga or you could get a water taxi for €2 per person.

I would definitely recommend the Valtos Beach residence and we are considering booking there for next year. Thank you for a lovely week!

Having spent several holidays in Greece, both self-catering and hotels, this was the first time I have said "wow" when being shown our hotel room. A large spacious double room, tastefully furnished, the best bathroom I have ever come across in Greece, a large balcony with sun-lounger, table and chairs and a spectacular view of Valtos Bay. Air-conditioning, a safe and flat screen tv came as standard. The room was kept immaculately clean all week by a busy team of house-keepers with regular changes of towels.

A buffet breakfast was served every morning with a good choice of cold meats, cheeses, a hot selection and various pastries.

We ate one night in the hotel and the standard of food was excellent. All the staff we came across with one exception, were friendly and helpful and justifiably very proud of their hotel.

Yes, there are lots of steps to the rooms and a steep climb into the town of Parga itself, but after the first couple of nights you didn't really find it too bad. Parga itself is a lovely town with twisting side streets and bars and restaurants to suit everyone.

If there was one criticism, it would be that the high cost of drinks at the bar compared with the rest of the town meant that it was a bit of a deterrent to sitting down for a night-cap before retiring to bed and found that this meant it was quite quiet in the evening.

However, all in all it was a very enjoyable stay and would not hesitate in staying again in future.

Just back from 2 weeks in Parga staying B/B at the Valtos Beach. My 3rd time in Parga, though stayed s/c in town 1st time and 2 years ago at the Rezi B/B. This hotel was definitely the best and is I think a high 3*. Rooms 113/114 were very tastefully decorated & bed linen changed every 3 days. Towels more often. There are 65 steps to get up to the rooms, so anyone with walking difficulties would have problems. Tour operator told me before we went that the rooms didn't have a fridge or hairdryer in them. They were wrong - they did! Also, air conditioning and the safe are included in the price. Breakfast was very good and varied - hot food as well as cold meats, cheese etc. Much much better then the Rezi (although that hotel does have the advantage of being at the end of town, albeit in rather a cramped but flat position). The restaurant part of Valtos Beach has a very extensive menu and the food was excellent. Rather a steep hill climb into the top of town (near the castle), but did get easier as the holiday went on! Taxi's are cheap 4Euros or the water taxi is 2Euro's per person. The Valtos Beach is a family run concern with everyone very helpful and friendly. Only minor moan might be that despite the brothers putting in extra sun loungers around the pool for this year, there still doesn't seem to be enough for everyone and one Finnish family seemed to be able to bag the same 4 seats every single day!! One way round this would be to give their guests free (or discounted) sun loungers on the beach (which is just in front of the hotel). Resort of Parga is very pretty and there are lots of nice restaurants - didn't have a bad meal. I wouldn't say this was a young persons resort, most people seemed to be over 40. Do go over to Paxos for the day (I've holidayed there 6 times), as it is stunningly beautiful.

Room Tip: All the rooms have sea view but the higher floor the more steps to go up!

We spent two weeks in the Hotel from 4th August, and were`nt disappointed. The rooms were nice and clean, and spacious, with a lovely view from our balcony, out to sea. Nikos and Kristos, the two brothers were always around to help if you needed anything, with all the rest of the family and staff , Alex ,Alice, Panos, and Mario, available also. The service around the bar and restaraunt was great, with also a great beach service from Panos, every day, and the food and drink quality was very good. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from the harbour side, which is up quite a steep ramp and steps, and could be a bit awkward for anyone not used to these sort of conditions. Alternatively you can get a taxi from the hotel (4Euro`s) or the water taxi (2 Euro`s each) into the harbour area, where there are plenty of restaraunts and bars to choose from. It was very busy during our stay, but we thoroughly enjoyed it so much so we have booked to go back next year. Thank you Valtos Beach.

I would agree with all the positives already said about this hotel but would like to mention the following. We went to use the safe on Day 1 and were a little nervous as the battery light was showing a low reading (we didn't want out €'s lost forever) we mentioned this to Christos and he came straight away to replace the batteries. A light bulb had gone in our room, this was changed within 5 minutes of mentioning it and lastly, we asked if we might have a kettle in our room, one was delivered while we were out along with a selection of teas, sugar, etc. cups and teaspoons. All little things but dealt with quickly and in such a friendly manner.

Room Tip: Room 136 has a lovely balcony on a corner which is in shade all day.

The hotel is very clean. Nice view to the sea. The pool is about 10m x 6m with about 40 sunbeds. They jackuzzi tub, but do not get in!! It wasn't clean, if you know what I mean..
The hotel has about 65-70 rooms, but you will get eventually a sunbed because there are tourist groups that take them for tourism.
Be warned: it is not a hotel for disabled people!! My room was 71 stairs high from the pool. No elevator! I counted even 85 stairs to the highest room.
About the food (supper and dinner): very good! Kind of expensive, for greek standards, but very good quality. For groups I believe they had included even desert, so even better!!!
About the breakfast: Classic basic breakfast. Nothing special, but nothing essential missing.
Location: to get to Parga you can:
1. either walk about 15 minutes (but it is quite tiring because you have to go up the hill to the citadel)
2. take a taxi (from Parga it's 3,50 euros, so if you call a taxi to the hotel it will cost more)
3. take the ferry (more like a big fishing boat..) with 2 euros per person. It leaves every 30' from Valtos beach. (2 minutes walk from the hotel)
I think they have 3 nights per week different music nights. Didn't stay to check them, but they seemed nice as I was passing by.
Parking: It is quite a problem.. I think they have 7 parking spots (only) but it is difficult to find because many people come by car to this (fine) beach. Well, eventually, you'll find a parking space..
All in all, I believe it was worth it.
I hope I helped :))
