“Meet Quality at its Best!”
Reviewed 20 September 2013

Stayed with my family and a large group of friends on a half-board basis in August. The location of the hotel is brilliant, enabling you to enjoy your walk by the lake to walk into the town of Ioannina.
Attention to detail, cleanliness, room service, staff service... at its Very Best!
The hotel itself is quite luxurious, staff very friendly and welcoming to both adults and children.
We enjoyed the superb cuisine. The chef is to be congratulated a thousand times for his loving attention to every dish he makes. The food simply completes the whole picture which to my family and friends was flawless!
Pool is quite big, they have a spa center which was closed in August, piano bar open for residents, they even welcome you to play, rooms spacious, toiletries (Korres) of the finest Greek quality while they also provide for Mosquito repellents in every room, as staying by the lake is quite common to get bitten in Ioannina. Always good to be prepared...
We - especially the kids - enjoyed the 'underground connection' of all the parts of the hotel which is split into 2 main building connected via an underground floor.
I would highly recommend it for your family vacation!

Room Tip: Request for a room in the main building if you want to avoid moving between 2 buildings for the dini...

Very beautiful hotel overlooking the lake of Ioannina. The hotel is perfect and the service is very good. In total we had an enjoyfull stay.

Living rooms are cosy, spa relaxes you nicely and rooms are big and comfortable. Take a walk to the city by the lake, it will revitalize you.

I'm a very frequent traveller so I consider myself to be a strict judger on evaluating hotels that I've stayed. Hotel Du lac was simply fabulous. I really can't make any negative comment for the specific hotel. I recently stayed there as a group leader of a team from Cyprus and I must say that everyone was so satisfied by the services and facilities of the Hotel. The rooms are luxurious, spacious and well decorated. The swimming pool though cold, is huge! The staff is more than friendly and welcoming. The cherry on the cake was the food! It was indeed very delicious...we all had the feeling that were tasting the traditional Greek home made well cooked food with aromatic spices and herbs. At the end of our stay me and a lady from our group felt the need to go and congratulate personally the chef of the Hotel! I strongly recommend it both for business or family vacations!

We stayed in August with a group of friends totalling 33 persons including children. All of us were excited, none of us had any complaint, although we are all frequent travellers! The rooms were very beautiful and with great taste. The food was ...gourmet - we stayed there on half-board basis. We were so impressed that we asked to meet the chef - Stratos Vassiliades, a talented young man with absolute love for his work, a love that is translated into uparallel taste in his creations! Although me and some of my friends are experts in cooking as well, we could not stop from admiring his attention to detail.
The service of the staff was excellent as well. the fact that the aircondintion did not work only for the 1st night, was quickly forgotten by all of us. Very near to the lake and walking distance from the castle - a beautiful route.

Room Tip: Perhaps rooms with view to the lake could be more beautiful.

Anything I say cannot describe this place!

The room was beautifully decorated, the staff was very polite and the view was amazing!

The spa is amazing too! They have really paid attention to detail!

The food was absolutely perfect! The only thing that bugged me was the chocolate mousse which had a little too much alcohol for my taste but to each his own.

The only - somewhat - downside is that it is not in a very central location but if you don't mind walking, like me, then you will fall in love with the place!

We upgraded to an Executive room with private pool - ground floor, so limited view of the lake (due to tree line) but grat room and fabulous patio with pool (although, note that these are East facing so the patio is completely in the shade by around 2pm).

The hotel pool and bar enjoys rhe sun right through to closing at 7 pm. Bizarly (never seen it before) the pool is open to non residents for €7 a day. At around lunchtime a stream of taxis, card and bikes arrive, so bay early afternoon there is not an inch of spare space around the pool 6or the rest of the day. As residents paying between €100 to €200 per day, you have little or no chance of getting anywhere near the hotel pool due to the numbers of non residents, unless you camp out from the morning. Sign of the times - this 'luxury hotel' clearly wants to extract every cent it can from where it can - maybve choose a cheaper hotel in town, then travel to du Lac to sun bathe in luxury each day for just a few euros!

The main building (bar/restaurant area) is really nice. The menu is disappointingly limited but the quality of the cooking did not disappoint.

The location is really good - about a 15 minutes stroll to the main bar and restaurant area by the lake, and the equivalent into town once you get your bearings.

A relarively short drive into the local mountain range provides the most spectacular views and scenary, with wild flowers growing in abundance in some areas as if they had been planned and planted by a skilled gardener.

The town has obviously seen better days (pre recession), and does suffer from the Greek obsession with spraying walls (including historic buildings) with childish scribble... But good for a few days to explore the beeaty of Epirus.

this is a good hotel, good location and very close to the lake, quite comfortable. the pool area is quite nice, the gardens are well maintained, clear and clean. Good service from the staff, yet nothing impressive.
Not really impressed by the food at breakfast, not much choice and nothing really fresh, yet it was ok.
