“A cheap solution”
Reviewed 21 October 2012 via mobile

The place where the hotel is a must.
Total down town
Clean hotel
Very kind stuff
Very clean places
Small bathroom (room 402) but really clean
First day we didn't have shower gel in the bathroom
Tv is not working well
And the only problem that we really had is the doors from my room and all the others are making really much noise.
If you are not quite then everybody can hear even your footsteps on the floor!!
But for a cheap solution in town is a good choice
A must:Private parking place is free of charge next to hotel

Pros: it is in the city centre, the staff are helpful, it is clean and comfortable enough, good for a one night stay while you are passing through Ioannina.

Cons: It has the potential of a much better hotel...the design suggessts that at same point in the past it was quite nice...nowadays it needs some renovation...the painting on the walls all over is broken...and the lock in the room is antic. there were no curtains in my room so it was a problem at night

Room Tip: Maybe if they have any, a room with view to the inner garden...it may provide more intimacy

Reviewed 14 July 2008

My Husband and I were 2 of 12 friends staying here for a wedding. Our room was very basic, the best thing I can say about it is that the air conditioning worked well. There were a lot of essentials missing - a 'do not disturb' sign, drinking glasses, a hairdryer, mini bar. We had a price list for a mini bar but no fridge which was annoying. When I asked at reception I was told 'we give fridge to your friends' Out of 6 rooms only 1 had a fridge. Another had a bathroom door which wouldn't close. The showers were very small with only a small tray enclosed by a curtain. It didn't drain properly. Our small balcony overlook a dirty courtyard - I will attached a photo.
The decor was orginal 1970s and we joked that it would be dairylea and crackers for breakfast. We didn't make it to breakfast until our 3rd morning and it was dairylea! There was also dry toast, bread, processed meat, orange squash, water or tea. We didn't bother again.
The underground carpark was unlike any I have ever come accross. It is low and full of pillars so trying to park is difficult enough, trying to get a punto out of the tight turns and steep slops was almost impossible. My husband is an excellent driver and can park a car in almost any space but we all really struggled in this car park. We managed to park on the street on our last night but the hotel still tried to charge us for the underground car park, it took quite a row to get the charge removed.
The location of this hotel is good with the lake, the old town and the resturants only a 5 minute walk. Ionnina is a beautiful mountain town which isn't really visited by tourists so has a tranquility to it which you don't find on the coast. Nearby is Vikos gorge which is stunning.
The hotel was cheap for Ionnina (60 euros per night) and we were here for a greek weddng so spent very little time in the hotel. If you decide to stay here, go with low expectations!
