Located just near the new Fortress , hotel's convenience was main feature. Noisy with motor bikes roaring along the narrow streets. Balcony outlook over street was pleasant. Breakfast included was basic but enough.

Stayed three nights in total (they didn't have any rooms free for one night in between, so I went someplace else -- then came back).
Good value for money (original asking price was EUR 50, got them down to EUR 40):
Clean, literally around the corner from the high st -- and 5 min walk from each of the two main tourist hubs; as well as bakery and decent kebab shop ('grill bar') right across the street.
Poor wifi signal though -- but small price to pay, I thought, as even many kebab shops have it, let alone the cafes and bars

Cheap, friendly staff, great location. 19 steep steps reseption, 22 even steaper steps to 2. floor. (no elevator). Hard to get privmacy due to old doors and thin walls. Clean. Supermarket next door, cose to both new and old town. No escape exept for a narrow, steep stair. (Hope for no fire).

We were on a 1 night layover after a fantastic week in Paxos, with our flight out midday the next day and our ferry arriving around 6pm we were looking for something that wouldn't bust the budget but clean, and convenient for some walking touring.
Well this little hotel was absolutely spot on. The room was very simple, but perfectly clean, clean sheets and bathroom.
Location was great too.. Just a 5 minute walk to the old town hub. Oh and the staff were very welcoming and helpful too. A great stay.. Would go there again if passing through Corfu

Excellent location for spending time in Corfu town. We loved the hustle, bustle of the market opposite the hotel and on Sunday a procession passed under our window. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room and ensuite clean and comfortable. Really good value for a central hotel. We would definitely stay again.

No frills here. The mattress was a bit lumpy and the plumbing quite loud, but if you are after a clean, centrally located room at a good price for a night or two, this is perfectly adequate.

I have never before felt compelled to write a review of a hotel; however having stayed at Hotel Hermes for 9 nights in early October I wish to pass comment. Firstly I would like to state that this hotel is immaculately clean. We had a large room, with air conditioning and a fair sized bathroom. The hotel is also in a fantastic location for seeing the town (although not surprisingly fairly noisy - due to the location in town). With regard to both cleanliness and decor, this is one of the best Greek hotels we have stayed in.

Unfortunately we were made to feel like a complete imposition whilst staying at the hotel. The review by Kathy416 is absolutely correct with regard to the attitude of the staff on reception. In addition to her comments about their attitude we also agree with her issues regarding the cigarette smoke. We were on the second floor at the front of the hotel and we came away from the hotel with our clothes smelling of stale smoke, despite the distance from reception.

The reception area has a very high desk from which you can only see the tops of the heads of the reception staff, who did not acknowledge us. Every day friends of the staff collected in the reception area. We were made to wait before handing in the key or collecting the key whilst they finished their conversations.

We had paid for breakfast at the hotel. Every day the dining room was in darkness and on arriving for breakfast the lights were only then switched on and a chamber maid summoned (by reception screaming for her) from what she was doing to prepare breakfast - this made us feel that this was a complete inconvenience, interupting the chamber maid from her actual duties.

On the final day, we missed our bus to the airport due to reception flicking though the book of reservations for about 15 minutes (in silence) to see whether we had indeed paid for breakfast in advance.

We do apprcaite that the stay at the hotel was at the end of the summer season and therefore the staff were probably tired and in need of a holiday themselves; however this hotel is open all year round and I would have therefore assumed that the attitude to the guests would lean on the side of acknowledgement (friendly or otherwise) rather than silent disdain. Athough this is a relatievly cheap hotel for Corfu Town, this is not a cheap hotel. We spent a substantial sum of money to holiday in a hotel in which we felt we were treated with silent contempt.
