“Breathtaking views worth making the trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2014 via mobile

The road is is not easy - always narrow and sometimes very steep. Directions are not always clear. I lost about 45 minutes as my GPS navigated to a different location with nearly identical name. But when you get to the top, the views pay off all your efforts. Except for the ugly modern retranslation tower standing just in the middle of the yard. I was there around 2 pm and I think views should even better in the early morning or evening.

“Nerve wracking drive, stunning views.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2014

We visited around 7pm. The cafe was just closing but had time for an ice-cream. The monastery is very small. It was incredibly peaceful but the whole site is perched on smallish mountain peak. I cant imagine it would feel very special with coach loads of visitors. The views are magnificent and you see in all directions. It was a longish drive for us and very twisty hairpin roads.

“Good Hiking daytrip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2014

Nice day trip, with great views of green Corfu. With a lot of opportunities for hiking trips. You can easily go with your own car, in the national parc or alternatively do an organised jeep tour over rough terrain.

“Quite high!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2014

The highest point in Corfu so when you have been on the beach and in the sea for too long it seems the perfect diversion to go up and see what you can see. And what you can see is the reason its worth the slightly tricky ascent as the views of the island, Albania and of course the lovely blue sea are certainly worth photographing, painting or just committing to memory as your fancy takes you. There is a small café at the top (which also benefits from the views) and the small but perfectly formed church. I would love to know who erected the tall communication mast right in the courtyard of the church; I would like to think it was the priest trying to raise money for the roof repair, but regardless of why its there it gives a good juxtaposition of the old church with the not so old steel tower. Inside the church is also worth a look, lovely frescoes across the barrel vaulted ceiling and a clutch of incense burners hanging like bunches of ripe grapes on a vine. If you pass through Spartilas on your climb stop at the Agnadia restaurant (see my other review) great view and food in one location.

“Stunning views!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2014

This place is absolutely worth visiting. First of all, the scenery here is absolutely different from the rest of the island, so it's just interesting to see how such a small piece of land can offer such variety of landscapes!
The drive to the top is quite interesting itslef and the view is great!
