“Blown away!”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

Brochure pictures always look great so we weren't sure how amazing this place was going to be. But when we got there we were blown away! It's an immaculate hotel, large bedrooms, amazing views, even more amazing pools. The food is ok, plenty of choice and good considering how many people they cater for. Entertainment is fun and the whole week we were there we couldn't believe our luck that we'd found it in the first place.
We arrived at about 5pm just as most people had gone back to their rooms to change for dinner. After dumping our things in the room, we saw the pool and had to go and splash around before dinner.
The only issue we had was that the kids club caters for 3+. Our son was nearly 3 but they wouldn't accept him which was a shame as he had to go in the crèche instead, while his 4 year old sister was in the kids club. Maybe Thompson need to review their age groupings, or use a bit of discretion, as he was grouped with babies so I don't think it was so much fun for him.
Saying that the daily family games on the green were loads of fun, aqua aerobics brilliant, which the kids joined in with too.
There are plenty of trips to go on if you want to. The glass bottomed boat trip combined with the aqua park was worth it, and we took a taxi to Corfu Town which is lovely, though with two very young children maybe not the best idea in the heat!
They do packed lunches which are generous, but the sandwiches are nothing special. Saying that it's more of a back up plan for the kids as we ate out if we left the resort.
I can't praise this resort enough. We loved it and two months on, are still day dreaming about it.

Room Tip: I would advise a sea view room if at all possible. We had two twin rooms which were interconnecting...

Returned from a fabulous holiday. Loads of sunbeds (not being reserved in the mornings - every day you could get a bed, just ask staff and they got more and more out!) , friendly atmosphere and nice people all around. Plenty to do in the hotel - sports/entertainment/activities/kids clubs - but not in your face! Very relaxing holiday yet we joined in lots of things. Ents team and Kids club reps were fabulous - made you/your child feel like they got to know you individually and loved their jobs. We went on the Theo boat trip which was fun - not the "Kavos on the sea" experience that I worried we had booked on (fab grub too); Hotel itself was spotless, cannot fault the food; we booked in the Asian restaurant which was a change - nice. Yes there were wasps around the drinks but did not hear of anyone being stung as staff did everything they could to get rid of them. The self service drinks meant that queues were only for cocktails/bar service (rarely more than 5 people deep) unlike previous All Inclusive resorts. Every family we spoke to was enjoying a great holiday. Lots of single mums here as well. Very friendly, staff excellent and we are seriously considering booking for next year. If I had been able to I would have extended our 7 days to 14 or more on the spot! The aeroplanes do not cause any distress to your day and the transfer time was 10 mins! There was also a Greek kids club open all day which suited little ones. Evening entertainment varied but if you want something to do with the kids, bit cheesy but a laugh nonetheless then you will be able to stomach it! Ventured to Corfu Town for one night which was great. Felt safe all the time, did not "rubber neck" to see my child all the time as lovely atmosphere and we got to know most people around the pool area. The new pool must have made a massive difference! We had a fabulous 7 days with plenty to eat, plenty to do and plenty of happy memories. Good value for an August break..

Room Tip: Worth choosing sea view - although our room was not facing the swimming pools; had view of Corfu por...

I would advise anyone thinking of going here to think very carefully. The food quality at best is mediocre and repetitive. The food is either too salty and always covered in a thick sauce. We tried eating out at the snack bar but there were wasps all around and had to leave the food due to this. Feel that it should be stated that there is a problem at this time of year with wasps, as this knowledge would have made customers not choose Corfu.

The hotel is "tired" and unimpressive. Bedroom comfort on arrival wasn't what was expected of a 4 star hotel compared to other places we have stayed. Beds very hard, lamp broken, floors not clean very well and don't get me started on the showers in the bedroom. . Sun beds are being reserved very early in the morning around the pool and then you will not find a safe haven for young children to swim because both pools are full of Lillo's.

Dear guest,

First of all, we thank you for choosing to stay at the Louis Kerkyra Golf and for writing a review online.

We are truly disappointed to receive such a strict review, especially because our hotel has gone extensive improvement work in the past few years. We have upgraded our room facilities, added a second pool, and also added an excellent asian restaurant. Perhaps the large number of children visiting during your stay has had a negative impact on your experience, so we would like to suggest the King Jason in Cyprus as an alternative for the future.

We do hope that you will give Louis Hotels another chance to offer you the esteemed services we are known for.

Yours faithfully,

The Management.

Me, my wife and my then one year old son stayed at the Louis Kerkyra Golf (Louis Family Resort) in May 2014. A cheaper rate because it was slightly early in the holiday season which was abundantly clear as areas of the resort were not open. I would love to give this resort it's fourth star, but there is some fibre in my being which is not allowing me. Perhaps displaying my reasonings as bulletpoint pro and cons might help me to establish my final decision

PROS
+ Faultlessly clean, from the rooms and hallways to the restaurants and pool areas.
+ The on-site oriental restaurant has amazing scran, although use is limited.
+ Most of the staff, Thomson employees, cleaners, receptionists, entertainers are a delight.
+ The vast majority of children adored the evening family entertainment.
+ The views across to Albania are breath-taking.
+ The children's soft play centers and playgrounds are brilliant.

CONS
- The two pools were criminally cold. We hated them and never utilised them.
- The variety of buffet food was very good, but the overall quality wasn't all that.
- The resort is located under regular flight paths.
- The beach isn't really a beach at all.
- The daytime entertainment staff could be more pro-active, activities go unnoticed.
- Some staff, this may be controversial, are more occupied with their free breakfast, lunch and dinner from the buffet restaurant (perks of the job) than they are with the hotel guests.
- It's 2014, and the free hotel WiFi is appalling. You have to sit in reception, pray you pick something up, then you're online for a limited time and it just stops working.

In summary, I almost left feeling rather frustrated. As all the potential is there, but as my cons list suggests, there a niggling issues which both me and my wife picked up on. To be fair, if asked, I would probably recommend this hotel, but would I stay again myself? No, I will continue to sample different resorts in different countries until I find 'the one'.

***

Room Tip: Sea view of course, so you can enjoy the spectacular views of mainland Albania.

Dear guest,

First of all, thank you for staying at the Louis Kerkyra Golf and for taking the time to share your feedback online.

It is a great joy to know that you deeply enjoyed our supreme cleanliness, our lovely staff along with our stunning location. However, we are sorry to hear that our cuisine variety and the entertainment did not meet your expectations. We will of course consider your valuable remarks in our continuous work for improvement. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with some of our employees. It is a shame that you had the feeling that guests were not their priority, we will take all necessary measures to prevent such a situation from ever happening again. As for the wifi, we took the decision of excluding this fee from our room rate to avoid charging other guests who might not wish to use this service. We hope you will give Louis Hotels another chance to provide you with the esteemed service we are known for. We have many other properties in Greece and Cyprus, perhaps the Louis Imperial Beach (Cyprus) or the Louis Zante Beach (Zakynthos) will better meet your expectations.

We sincerely hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again in one of our Louis Hotels.

Yours faithfully,

The Management.

This is my second all inclusive holiday. I have 2 daughters aged 13 and 11. The hotel is situated just outside the beautiful Corfu town. It's down a long drive and is very isolated. Not easy to walk out to any other bars etc but cab into town is only €10. The hotel is kept to a good standard. I wouldn't say it was four stars on looks and decor. The room was adequate but a little cramp, as we opted for the sliding screen to provide the girls with privacy. The sea views from the balcony are amazing. The new pool area and bar are certainly 4 four stars. Plenty of room around the pool and some nice places to sit and relax. The pool itself is the best pool I've been in on holiday. Great shape that lends itself to have your own little section and one depth throughout most of the pool. The sea and beach are only a few metres away.

The food in the restaurant and snack bar is brilliant. Plenty of choice and great quality food, including some freshly grilled meats and various themed nights. The staff in the restaurant are very busy but always willing to help set an extra place or get you your drinks. The Japanese/Chinese restaurant - booked in advance but no extra cost - is well worth a visit. Sushi to start and then good quality Chinese buffet. Drinks and cocktails again good quality. Look out for Nikos behind the bar, excellent bartender and very friendly.

My girls were too old for the kids entertainment and without this distraction there wasn't a lot going on in the hotel for the older kids and the adults in the evening. If you have teenagers you need to consider if this hotel would suit your kids ages.

The Wifi in the hotel is shockingly bad. One tiny router on the front desk which you need to be within 15 feet of to get connection. For a hotel of this quality the wifi is desperately bad. Although some will say that it maybe a good thing not to be online during holiday, the kids want the connectivity and it's not right to spend a lot of time around the front desk trying to catch the web.

We hired a car from the in-house car hire company and had 3 days driving around this glorious unspoilt island. Visiting different beaches and towns around the north of the island. Went into Corfu town for several evenings. It's an amazing place. Feels very safe and there is plenty of great shops and in places has a Camden market feel. Would have liked to have spent more time discovering the island.

Overall can't fault the holiday, the hotel, food, staff and Corfu as a family holiday destination. Only regret is the suitability of the hotel to my girls ages.

Travelled as a party of 5 including a 5 year old child, this hotel had it all for all ages. Lovely pools, great food and entertainment and very friendly staff. Situated in a beautiful scenic location, vast grounds and in the distance you could see Cruise Liners in Corfu port but not the names of them.
Rooms very good size with plenty of drawer and hanging space, bathroom with bath and shower also a good size. Stayed for a week but would love to return for longer next time.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday and we was very impressed with the hotel, our room was lovely and clean and spacious for three people with a great sea view. We was very impressed with the food in the restaurant at each mealtime it was always hot and the choice was very good and would recommend for vegetarians, the restaurant staff were also very good and there was never a problem getting a table. The grounds and pool area were kept clean and we never found an issue with sunbeds, although we preferred the pool near the snack bar as it was a bit quieter, the only issue here was the wasps but there wasn't any flies! The beach was a bit disappointing but the views were beautiful. The evening entertainment was good for families but I think teenagers would find it a bit boring. The wifi was very poor which I can imagine teenagers would also not be impressed with. Corfu town is a 10 minute bus ride but the buses are very cramped so the 10 euros for the taxi was much more favourable and Corfu Town was a beautiful place to visit, the hotel is located on the edge of the town and the area is not very pretty there isn't really anywhere to have a walk in the evening which is a bit disappointing so a week was enough for us. I would definitely recommend the hotel for a week in the sun at a lovely hotel but if you are looking for more greek experience I think you might be disappointed with the location.

Room Tip: We had room 59 good view of the sea and cruise ships but avoids the noise from the pool
