Recommended for those who enjoy adventure and nature Angelokastro is situated North of Corfu and is worth seeing. One of the most important castles of Byzantine empire, situated on top of a rock 300 meters high from sea level. Ticket is not expensive (around 3-4 euro for adults ). Inside the castle on top is situated a small church dedicated to one of the angel's called"Michail". If the weather is fine you can have a spectacular view of the whole island..Open from 10.00 to 15.00-16.00

Magical and extremely energetic place, it is worth to spend a few drops of sweat to reach here, the views will compensate us 100%. With imagination we can feel like Byzantine guards, who looked at the water 480 meters below the sea in search of enemies of the empire. The fortress of Angel is one of the most important monuments of Byzantine culture on the Greek islands. It is good to have tourist footwear and binoculars as indicated.

We went up to the castle with car, since we havent found any good tourist roads that dont go mostly on the side of the roads (sidewalk is missing in many places on Corfu, even in villages). Its a ten minute steep walk from the parking lot. The panorama is outstanding, we can deinitely recommend it. The castle itself is a ruin, not much to see about that. I recommend to calculate to stay at least an hour i cluding the way up and down.
We came by taxi, which waited half an hour for us. Since its at least ten minutes up and down, we did not have much time left, but it was worth it.

Our first trip to Angelokastro was awesome! The views were breathtaking and the bus journey through the very narrow roads leading up to the castle were very impressive too!
Well worth a visit! My wife and I booked through Leandros travel in Acharavi for 18€ was a bit too expensive for the rest of the trip as it was very disappointing!

Angelokastro is a must see. Great climb and amazing views. Below the castle is a restaurant, family owned with the tastiest food i've had in my 3 weeks jn Greece. I had mussels in bacon grilled and my husband mixed souvlaki. Juicy. Flavourfull. Extremely affordable and portions are really big. Two big meals with 2 alcoholic beverages came to only 25 euros.
