“Great apartments, great location”
Reviewed 6 August 2009

We travelled to the Little Prince Apartments in July after booking a last minute bargain. It was very reasonably priced and we didn't know too much what to expect, just thought as 3*+ it would be good, and it was!

APARTMENTS

The apartments are really spacious and much more modern than things we have seen before as only recently built. There is a nice bathroom, good kitchen area with all the things you will need, grill, utensils, tea towels, cutlery, pans etc, an indoor dining area, dressing area and a huge lovely balcony with views out to sea. Some apartments overlook the pool but the front apartments are really great, I think ours was 108 and had a massive balcony. Everything was kept really clean and we were happy and comfortable there. There was also a little library area which we used a few times. Pool was nice, not huge but big enough as the apartments don't have a huge occupancy either. There was also a nice bar area that opened as well.

LOCATION

The Apartments are really well located in the main part of the small resort San Stefanos, the beach is about a 3 minute walk down the road and is absolutely lovely. Huge stretches of sand and beautiful, crystal clear water. There are some nice walks and we walked to Arillas over the headland which had stunning views and a gorgeous beach. Would recommend.

The people in San Stefanos are lovely and welcoming and I think this is why people keep going back. We are a young couple and thought that most entertainment in the bars etc was aimed towards more middle aged people, i.e. 60's music, but this is not a bad thing and is makes it a really nice resort for couples or families. The Athens Bar was a great place to visit for cocktails or live music.

The restaurants are lovely, we did not have a bad meal and our favourites were The Little Prince, The Two Stars and The Zorbas. We had delicious food and excellent service and everything was still so reasonably priced. You can get a three course meal set menu for 8 euros and all the restaurants do different set meals each night or for 6 euros a set meal with a drink.

We also did some diving out in Corfu, which I would highly recommend. We contacted Bev and Ray, really friendly people, at their dive shop in San Stefanos and they organised it with Rays company Dive Easy in Acharavi. We had a great day, with safe and helpful guides and the dives were shallow (12m) but lovely reefs off the coast of Albania, with good marine life.

San Stefanos is a beautiful, small and friendly resort with a great beach and you would not be disappointed to go there. The Little Prince is a great base for staying there and the owners were also lovely and helpful. In the beginning of July we did not purchase the air con and didn't really need it as slept with balcony slightly open and didn't find the mosquitos bad either but had plug ins and used lots of spray!! For lovely, clean and spacious apartments with everything you need, great clean pool and bar area and great restaurant then stay at the Little Prince.

Chill out in the Little Prince at San Stefanos. If you want a peaceful - apart from the occaisional scooter or beach buggy going past - relaxing place to stay ,this is it. The friendliness of the place was surprising and completely genuine. In fact everyone was so friendly and happy to chat and explain where to go and what to see. The studio was spacious and modern --you would need the air con in June. Food in the restuarant was fresh and delicious with Corfoit and Greek meals as well as grills. They offered a 3 course meal of the day for 8 euros. Most visitors are repeats - now we have been there we'll be repeating next year.TIG This Is Greece and they have improved their plumbing but it is still paper in the bin but you know that before you go.

We stayed at the Little Prince Apartments in May this year and had a really good time. The self-catering rooms are well-equipped and spotless. We arrived hot and bothered after a long coach trip only to find that the only ATM on the resort was broken and had been broken for some time (Thompson omitted to tell us this) and that the closest ATM was several steep kilometers away in the next town. Luckily the owner offered to lend us money to tie us over! If it wasn't for him we would have been a bit stuffed as we had no money on us!

The pool area is nice and relaxing and the food from the Little Prince Restaurant is fantastic! The surrounding area is also very peaceful and full of small shops and great restaurants.

We are a lot younger than most that go to that resort but we managed to find great younger people to have a drink with in the evening. But if you are looking for a party, you won't find it here (we weren't so we were very happy with the peace and quiet!)

I would definently recommend these apartments, all in all it was a great holiday!

We booked up last minute with Thomson’s, for a two bed roomed apartment as we were taking my mother. We were told these apartments featured in the "small and friendly" brochure in which there was not a lot of information... Nor on the web!

The trip from Corfu airport, by coach at night was about 90 mins to San Stefanos, and probably not ideal for the nervous type. Lots of mountain roads with some severe drops, however the coach driver seemed un-phased and we got there safe and sound.

The ground floor of the Little Prince houses the restaurant and a small reception area. There were loads of paperbacks available, that people had left previously. We hired a safe in the room at 1 Euro a day (7 for the week) very reasonable!
We asked for aircon which was available at I think 40-60 euros a week, but were advised to try a night first as most people did not find it necessary in September. Much to our surprise they were right, the rooms were lovely and cool in the evenings, however, for people travelling there in mid summer, it is available, and there were large units in each bedroom.
All the apartments are on the first and second floors and there is no lift. Not a problem for us, but could be for some. It looks as though they are going to be building a third floor for next season.

We got car hire for three days (booked with the holiday). Driving was fine, not much traffic, but the bendy roads mean concentration is essential. The maps provided by Thomson's and the Car Hire firm were not much cop, and we did get lost quite a bit! Sidari is the nearest large resort, about a 15min drive.
There is a daily bus service into Corfu town.

The apartment we had was on the first floor and was large and clean, if a little basic on first impressions.
All the lights worked, as did all the sockets and the curtains fitted the windows.
There was a large kitchen/living area with a table and chairs. A two electric ring stove/oven/grill and fridge. Utensils/plates etc were all there and they even left a tea towel!
The bathroom had a shower over the bath and you COULD put toilet paper in the toilet! But they only give you one roll to start with as this is self catering, the cleaner does not provide it.

There were two large bedrooms one with twin beds the other with twin beds pushed together. Both had fitted wardrobes (plenty of hangers) and a hair dryer. French windows in both rooms led out to a large balcony that ran the width of the apartment and was enclosed above waist height (safe for children to play on). This apartment was over the restaurant and on the main road, but there was very little noise pollution and we had a sea view (albeit to the side) in front were the mountains, just lovely. One night there was an electrical storm over the distant mountains which was a sight to behold, we watched in awe from our balcony.

The pool area (also on the first floor) was really clean with lots of free sun beds, a shaded bar area and a good sized pool that was not heated. There were a few toys, small slide etc laid out by the pool which would have been suitable for pre-school children.

The location of these apartments is great. You are about 50-70 metres from the beach and surrounded by tavernas, small shops and supermarkets. There are about 10-12 places to eat the best of which we found to be the Olympic (may have been Olympia?) This was a little more expensive, but great. In honesty we ate somewhere different most nights and did not have a bad meal anywhere. The little Prince restaurant is also very popular. Quite a few of the restaurants have Greek Dancing on in the evenings; Zorba's has the edge on this.
This is not a massive or lively resort. It is fantastic for a relaxing holiday or break. We also had fantastic weather for the entire week. This resort has only slight hills/inclines and everything is so close to hand. I think most people would be able to enjoy this resort.

The beach is flat, clean and large. We didn't sunbathe there but when we went for walks there always seemed to be a good breeze. There were a few places to get food and drinks there too.

If I had to pick negatives I would say:-

1.) The apartment lacked a sofa or some form of comfortable seating.
2.) The beds were a bit hard.
3.) The towel changes were only twice a week and no clothes horse or place to dry towels.
4.) The pool was not heated (can be a bit of a shock!)
5.) There were plenty of mosquitoes, so take repellent

But please do not be put off.

The positives are:-
1.) Great Location
2.) Clean and large apartment
3.) Lovely people
4.) Nice places to eat
5.) Relaxing and hassle free
6.) Fab weather

We would visit here again, without a doubt.
