Stayed her for 2 weeks in August this year. group of 6 so we had 3 rooms. The rooms are what you would expect from Greece but the balcony is the smallest I have ever had. The couple who run the hotel do not speak any English so it is difficult to communicate but they do try and are quite receptive if you try to speak to them in Greece.

The pool are was also too small for us and as the bar did not open until around 2pm we didn't go around the pool hardly at all. We did use Yannis bar and pool which was a few hotels up and wher I would book if I returned.

Air conditioning and safety box was your usual price and the safety box is a neccessity as our friends daughter had her phone stolen from the room and my daughter had new nail varnishes stolen also. I cannot say who could have gained access but we did use to find the staff bunch of keys all over the place so to be honest any opportunist could have done it. So my advice is get a safety box and lock everything away when not in the room.

Nidri is a beautiful place and I have been missing the glorious and dramatic views that we were privi to. Everywhere you look is a beautiful scene and I feel very lucky to have visited.

We took the sea trip on MS Cristina for 45 e each. Sounds a lot but the trip was absolutely worth it and the buffet lunch was delicious too. I would go again so you can see it is recommended.

Most of the restaurants offer fabulous foods. Mama mia gave a good greek night and one gives out free desserts and coffees at the end of the evening ( the name escapes me but it is towards the end of the strip, farthest away from demitri).

All in all we loved this island (that isn't really an island). The beaches on the west coast were amazing and if you hire a car go and see them for yourselves.

We will be back one day for sure but will stay at the Yiannis bar as the pool area more what we expect.

Room Tip: Room 15 had a gorgeous view over the water. Room 12 right behind bar and any view blocked by bar. M...

We stayed here for a week in August 2012. Although this accomodation is situated opposite the waterfront ( the habour) it is at least 20 mins from the nearest beach, which should be pointed out! We have been travelling to Greece for at least 20 years and have seen many islands and parts of the mainland.

Two days after our arrival (which I really do not appreciate) the maid started to knock on the door violently in the morning around 10.20am started to shout at my (May I add) 60 years old mother in Greek and literally threw the towels on the floor and stormed off ( most maids in Greece are lovely but not this one). Throughout the whole week she only changed the bins and did not touch anything else ( in my view disgusting to treat paying customers like this). Another problem we had was being able to hang out any washing, which the owners did not like (after me being moaned at from down below from our balcony) I took basic Greek so I know when the apparently " friendly owners" ( as everyone else describes are being funny with us).

Our rep was lovely and we could not find any fault with him as he could not be made to blame (their) crappy staff which he had no control over. Also no hot water in the Kitchen and bad power sockets.

I never really felt at ease staying here unlike the rest of Greece, we have been to as the owners made us feel so welcome (not). Not recommend for female travellers only married couples as they will like you better. Just not nice.

Room Tip: I don't think they have any good rooms.

We returned from two weeks at the Demetra just over a week ago.. what an amazing time we had. We had read the reviews before we left & there were a few negatives. Well don't be put off by them. The owners were fab, my hubby took a shine to Maria , even though she speaks little english she has a wicked sense of humour. nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was great, basic greek , but if you want 5* star then go 5*! The pool bar " ROUGE BOOZE " is seperate to the apartments but they really made our holiday. ! Tricky is the owner, her brother Thanos also works there along with Stefan & Laura . Look beyond the fact that they are young, have piercings & the odd tattoo & you couldn't meet more friendly people anywhere. Yes their " cronnies " do come round but they are as friendly as the staff...Try the cocktails especially the coffee one !!!
The location was just perfect, quiet & with amazing views , what a joy to walk out to every morning..It is a very short walk to the strip , there are numerous bars & restaurants . We had breakfast/ brunch at CAFE DI PARIS every morning & we were served by the wonderful Nellie who came over to Nidri 11 years ago & has never wanted to leave...Our favourite restaurant was The Barrel . You don't pay for the bread or water, the food & service was A1 , then they give you a free dessert & ouzo to say thank you!!!
Our favourite bar was Pixida , It became our "local" We watched the Olympics there every night as we enjoyed a vodka or few.. Again the owners were amazing & the waitress Magdalena "Maggie" was one of the hardest workers i have seen & always with a smile .
Take a boat trip to " The Forgotten Islands " on the MS Christina.. The whole boat is full of sunbeds in or out of the shade , you have 4 swimstops & they provide snorkelling gear . Lunch was is on board at one of the swimstops & you get off at 2 islands to do a bit of sightseeing.. Fab
Phil the rep was great , always at the apartments when he said he would be & eager to please..
I really cannot rate the whole holiday highly enough . The only negative was that we were delayed coming home but we were put up in a 5* hotel . The reviews for the airline Small Planet are not good at all . However the crew were also at our hotel & they were brilliant. So huge thanks to Alison , Ashleigh & the wonderful Liam who treat us like royalty on our flight back home. Would i fly with Small Planet again ,? ABSOLUTELY Will we be going back to the Demetra again ?TOO BLOODY RIGHT>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

This was our 4th visit to Lefkada, and the second time at Demetra. The accommodation is typical basic studios, pretty much the same throughout Greece in our experience. The location is perfect being at the quiet end of the strip, but only a short walk to the restaurants and bars, also the boats for the numerous trips on offer. We spent a few afternoons at the pool and anyone who enjoys Dermot O'Leary on a Saturday afternoon will love the choice of music played by the bar staff. Tricky, who runs the bar, has an amazing selection of music. Tricky herself is very friendly and always takes the time to sit and have a chat. She offers every new arrival a free shot of raki - highly recommended! We were at a loss to understand the previous reviews about her bad attitude, we stayed here last year as well and she is a lovely friendly host.
Whilst there we hired a car for 5 days and got lost in the mountains twice. Just keep going downhill and you get back eventually! We drove out to the lighthouse which is shown on maps as being approched by an unmade road. This is now a perfectly good road, and has lovely views.
The trip on the Christina to the forgotten islands is a brilliant day out, highly recommended, and our favourite trip was the evening Sunset and Stars trip, where you get taken to a beach on the mainland,an evening barbecue with as much wine as you like and get treated to some amusing tales before being guided through the night sky.

We would also recommend hiring a boat for the day. As it was just the two of us we hired a 25hp boat from Trident and had a great day out. Best day of the holiday. We went over to Meganissi and all around the other islands in the harbour. Snorkelling off a deserted beach in crystal clear water is not to be missed. On return the owners of Trident present you with a can of their home produced olive oil which is one of the best we've had.

The only downside for us was the 11 hour delay on our return flight. We were well looked after for the afternoon at a nearby hotel, but it wasnt much fun landing at 1 am in Gatwick with no way of getting home to Cornwall - having missed our connection! This aside we had a briliant holiday and will definitely return to Lefkada, and more than likely the demetra studios. Hopefully we will have learnt some Greek so that we can say more than hello the owners!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the road are a bit noisy in the early mornings with the refuse collection lorries, but a...

I've ticked couple as I've just got back from here with my Dad (so although we are not a couple we didn't have any children with us) and we had the most brilliant holiday here in Nidri.

The rooms are very basic but clean but with pretty flower beds looked after by the lovely old couple who own the apartments. There have been some bad reviews about the bar here being noisy but we did not find it a problem at all and neither did anyone else we spoke to. Tricky who runs it is lovely and so are all her staff, there is pleasant relaxing background music but no way is it noisy!

They also have a new Olympus Rep for this year called Phil, he is a lovely friendly man who will help you with anything you need to know and he was around every day, sometimes twice. We did have no hot water on the first day and within 3 minutes Phil got it sorted out and we had no problem for the rest of the week. They are also emptying the bins in the rooms every day now after Phil asked them to.

The location is excellent, right on the edge of the sea, although it feels more like a huge lake as there are islands all around in the sea. The ferry is only 2 minutes walk along the harbour (which is at the other end of the Demetra pool) and is only 1.80 each way to Megannissi, a beautiful island where you can get off at Spartahori and go up a lot of steps to have a drink or lunch with the most amazing, prettiest view ever.

There was also boat trips for 9 hours around 7 islands with stops at different pretty places including Porto Katsiki beach and Kefalonia and you also see Skorpios, the Onassis island. The boat we went on was the "Makedonia Palace", it is usually 15 Euros each but we booked late in the evening for the next day and they said 10 each. Snacks, lunch, drinks, toasties and ice creams are for sale in the bar on this boat and were really reasonably priced.

Saying that, we found everywhere we ate or drank to be really fair prices. Although they are struggling for money in Greece they have not raised their prices at all as far as we can see. They are still as friendly as ever there and always want to give you something "on the house". There must be a choice of about 50 restaurants all along the harbour and also more running parallel at the back of the studios. Every meal we had was lovely and so was every person that served us. There is also a bus in the back road that takes you one way to Lefkada town and the other way to Vasilliki beach so it is still really easy to get to other places without hiring a car or bike.

The Demetra studios are clean, very basic but also very quaint which to us all added to the charm of the holiday. The whole of the island is still very Greek, unlike some that are getting very commercialized.

The only thing that could have made our holiday any better was if we could have stayed longer, we can't wait to go back. Lots of people we met said they have been back numerous times as they can't find a nicer island. If anyone is thinking of booking here, just do it! Also weather was in the 30s all week. Hope you love it us much as we did.
