Just returned from the lovely sands hotel. This hotel is excellent and has a lot of charm.
The rooms are simple, comfortable and very clean. All rooms have a balcony with super views to the front and the back. Air conditioning is great and needed in the summer. The shuttered doors are great for blocking out noise and we had a fabulous sleep whilst there.
Best part of hotel is the pool area which is really really nice. Great size, v v clean and well maintained. Always enough sun beds and chairs. Our children had to be prised away from the pool! But we didnt mind as it was so nice go relax around.
Laertis is a wonderful host who works tirelessly to make sure his guests have everything they need. The food he serves is great, especially the english breakfast.
Tuesdsy night is greek bbq night which is always fun and defiantly worth going to. The food is superb.
The hotel is well placed, just opposite the beach and is only a short walk into nidri which is nicely busy with lots of shops and restaurants. The "pefko"(pinewood ) restaurant just on the opposite side of the road and a little further down from Sands is defiantly worth a visit.
Overall i wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend this hotel and we will defiantly be returning again and again.

We visited Nidri and stayed at Sands hotel for the third time over the last 4 years with our two children 7 and 11 years old.
Once again we had a great relaxing experience.
Most of the people at the hotel we spoke to seemed to be returning customers which says a lot about the place.
Its a small hotel but there is always lots of spare space by the pool and generally a relaxed friendly atmosphere.
I noticed the last reviewer complained about their sleep and noise. They must have had a unlucky experience at their time of the visit.
Once the balcony doors are shut and aircon is on, I cant say that I have had a better sleep anywhere else including my own house.
(Aircon setting 26 degrees for the perfect temperature in the room :-) )
Nidri has countless things to offer if you spend the time to investigate.
We have generally spend the previous years by the pool but this time as the children are older we have booked a lot of trips and visits and realised how much we had missed in our previous holidays to Nidri.
The hotel has basic rooms but very very clean and gorgeous views front to the sea and back towards the mountain - so dont worry if you dont book the sea view.
There is a huge array of restaurants/snack bars and cafes in the town, but also enjoyed the food at the hotel.
Its great value for money especially the hearty full English breakfast.
Tuesday night was BBQ night at the hotel.
Its a lovely authentic Greek experience with an AMAZING buffet and lots of music and dancing till late by the pool.
Overall a very relaxing holiday - at an awesome little hotel. Pretty sure will be back there again and definitely recommend to anyone.

Me & my friend stayed here for a week at the beginning of July, Not much positive things to say really. There are long corridors on each floor so everything echo's and sound twice as noisy so when someone closes the door it bangs! It didn't help as there was a family of about 12 with young children who took over all the floors & swimming pool and they had not got an ounce of respect for the other guests. It started around 6.30am bang bang bang bang every door, nothing was said as they was spending money with the owner of the hotel and they was left to have a noisy carefree holiday. We had are bed linen changed once and that was the night before we came home! The cleaner was in everyday, and everyday we came back into the room the stench of cat urine was horrendous! I can only think that wherever the mop was left a cat must have been peeing on it!! I have lived, worked and been to most greek islands so I know what basic is but this is the worst place I have ever stayed. Nidri is very picturesque and the harbour front is lovely. We like to travel about but also like a few hours to chill around a pool or beach. The beaches are shingly and packed with people, the same applies for the pools that are available around the resort and there is not many! There are loads of restaurants on the harbour front but are more expensive than the ones on the main strip. I suppose Nidri holds sentimental memories for some but my advice is try other islands as we have found a lot more nicer ones!

We booked a last minute trip using Olympic as normal but this accommodation was a lot better than most we have had with them. I even e:mailed the owner in advance to try to get a room with a view and was not disappointed when we were given 202 a room overlooking the pool. The hotel and rooms were small but perfectly adequate for a couple of weeks in the sun. Although basic kitchennette we managed to knock up a quick salad for lunch etc. The rooms were spotlessly clean and done every day. The shared balconies were new in us but everyone seemed to get along OK. You do have to be aware that if you get a room at the front you could get noise from the bar on a night. Depends on who is staying there on your visit. Unfortunately our first week was marred by one very loud guest and the bar does stay open as long as the guests want tobe drinking. Shrieking at 3am though isn't my idea if a nice quiet holiday in Greece....not the owners fault and he did apologise but I understand the bar does supplement hisincome.....just take some earplugs just in case. The pool was good but not busy as most guests tend to go out and about and the beach is literally a stones throw away. Free sunbeds if you get a drink from the sail inn opposite the sands. Great places to eat on a night & try the local gyros places as well as the new pasta place near the big supermarket and pizza place opposite...good local places away from the harbour that do great food at brilliant prices. Take the ferry over to megannissi for a lovely trip out and don't forget the island trips from the harbour. All the big boats offer similar trips but go for the blue one.....you get a lunch on this one which you don't on the others. Go into lefkas town on the bus for another trip out and don't miss the walk to the waterfall. All in all a great island, resort and hotel that have made us want to return again. Thanks leartis and Olympic.

Room Tip: 202 had great views & sun in the morning but watch out for bar noise.

What a lovely quiet hotel Situated just on the edge of nidri so ideal for a peaceful holiday with the beach just across the road.

The hotel was kept spotless and the cleaners did a fantastic job.

We used the pool a few times but also spent quite a lot of times at the beach as it was so close. Every meal we had out was superb and very good value for money. Walked up to dimitri's a couple of times and ate very well knowing we would walk some of it back off afterwards.

Brilliant holiday may well return again.
