We visited this little restaurant driving from Drimonas, hence quite a drive! But it was worth it. I'm a person, for whom in a restaurant service comes first, food second in a way.

So service - without a doubt, excellent. I can understand that when it gets busy, waiting times can get longer, but for us on a quite late Sunday evening, the wait was pleasant and not really long at all. Even though Peter and Alison wanted to close early, hearing we drove from Drimonas, they seated us nevertheless and our dinner was great. The host is very entertaining and it is definitely refreshing to be able to speak English and not just with a fluent speaker, but a native too. Wine on the house, mandarine liquor, flexibility - what else can you wish for?

Food - extremely good. The starter of roasted tomatoes with garlic (two of my ever favourite ingredients) - a special of the day - was magnificent! I even thought of changing my order for main dish and have the same starter again instead. :) The mains were really good. Well, I liked mine a lot - again a special of the day casserole of sausage with black-eyed peas and tomato on rice. My partner had chicken with mushrooms, he liked it too. What I really liked was the change from all the oil and grease of the dishes in many of the more traditional Greek places, this food felt also fresh but much lighter in a way.

All in all - great evening, nice atmosphere, thanks a lot for a great dinner!

We visited Katoghi after being recommended by our holiday rep. After traversing the 17th hairpin bend as we drove up into the hills, we weren't sure whether we'd made a mistake, but were glad we perservered as the Katoghi didn't disappoint. So much so that we went back again, by which time we were zooming along the windy roads like locals.

Aside from it's lovely view, the Katoghi manages to provide great home-made greek food that isn't the 'standard' dishes that are trotted out along the front in Nidri. For example, starters of courgette & mint soup, courgette and feta fritters (child no. 2's favourite), stuffed peppers with cheese and bacon were great, while the tomatoes roasted in olive oil, balsamic and garlic were simply excellent.

Mains (sorry to bang on with detail but they were so good and that bit different) included mediterrean pork, chicken with salami and mushroom, seasonal vegetable tart, spicy sausage & bean casserole....ah the memories. Puds were also great, including a chocolate & whiskey cake.

On our second visit we even managed to tick the box of our regular holiday objective - no matter where we travel to, to have a curry sometime during the stay!!

If the above hasn't tickled your taste buds, the home made mandarin liquer will do.

Peter and Alison have done a fine job here, providing great food in a lovely location. Go and give them your support.

We visited the Katoghi based on the reviews from TripAdvisor. However, the food was really disappointing. It was tasteless, and felt like it was pre-cooked and then heated up in a micro-wave.
It's a pity, because the couple owning the place seemed to have good intentions, and you really need to drive a long way to find the place.
