“basic but clean”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2012

stayed for 2 weeks, it was so quiet and relaxing (not many kids about) very basic but very clean, no pool but beach is 2min walk turn left at main gate, we used the pool at the mill bar during the day, had lunch there most days would recomend mill club sandwich (yum). turn right at main gate and the first taverna you come to is a new family run resturant "En Elladi" owned by the local priest yannis, his wife is the cook and the food is piping hot, fresh and very very good we were there some nights for 3 hrs relaxing and enjoying the food and drink i would suggest trying ozuo and fresh orange after your meal and try the sea bream so fresh the fish fell of the bone, i am not a meat eater but i did have a lamb dish and a beef steffadio delish!!. we would go back to alykanas any time the people are so friendly and the place is so relaxing its hard to put it into words, we went a walk into alakas during the day had a coffee at a little cafe on the bridge with a greek owner that was very funny! i would recomend a holiday here if you feel the need to relax and unwind

Room Tip: we were in room 8 had the sun all morning

Stayed here for 1 week on 20th May. Location is perfect.. a 2 minute stroll to the beach on the left and a 10 min stroll to the main strip on the right, which consists of a couple of supermarkets, several restaurants and a few bars. The apartments are basic but have everything you need apart from aircon and a kettle and toaster ( the main 3 in my opinion ). We do not self cater we eat out so it would be a challenge if you intend to cook!!!!, but eh we're on holiday sample the local cuisine !. There is a fridge in the room at no extra cost and you are provided with mugs which is rare, if you like a morning cuppa take your own kettle. There is a 2 ring hob as well. Bathroom is basic and the floor does get drenched but eh this is greece, mop it up , laugh and don't get stressed about it. We were on the ground floor with a side sea view, well if the farmer down the road didn't keep his trees at a decent level you would not get a sea view !!. There is no reception area and the couple who own it are always about they are very quiet and polite and although their English is very limited they are very helpful. The Alykanas area is so chilled out, We walked to the next town of Alykes,, on the beach although you do have to come off and walk over the bridge, it is a lovely walk with plenty of beach tavernas on the way, only about 20 minutes. The Greek people are so friendly, you are not hassled to go into their restaurants. Sun beds were charging between 5 and 7 euro's for 2 with table and a parasol , I expect this will rise as the season picks up. All in all a lovely chilled out resort, hoping to go back next year but will look for a different hotel. Happy holidays

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor for spectacular views of the surrounding area

Stayed at these studios for a week. They are budget no frills accommodation. Cheap and Cheerful. Nice grounds. Great location for the beach and town. No pool but that doesn't really matter as you can use the pools at the Hotel Valais which is 2 minutes towards the beach or The Mill which is 3 minutes same way. Peaceful and good value for money. Would stay here again.

The Draganikos was quiet, clean and the maid service excellant. Close to beach and also the Time Piece bar and swimming pool. We spent most of our time at the Time Piece as it had a large pool, use of lillo's and float aids, good snack bar or full meals. Sunday lunch was excellant value. Hospitable and clean venue which complimented the accomodation and only 3 minutes walk away. The Time Piece met all our requiremnets for day time, or a quiet drink in the evenings with a meal.

Excellent location close to the beach. Very clean and spacious apartments with lovely views - no noise from other guests. Run by a Greek lady, very helpful - highly recommended, good value for money. No pool but most bars have pools for public use - we used the pool at the Millennium bar and were very welcome, stunning views of the mountains and very peaceful. Family run and very helpful and hospitable - good food and snacks.
Would definatley return.
Alykanas was a lovely resort with excellent beach and views. Many restaurants and few shops, full of character.
Recommend trip to the blue caves - stunning and the train to pigadakis is very charming. Greek night at the mill bar was brilliant and right on the beach and 2 minutes from the Draganikos - wonderful place

Stayed at the Draganikos Studios in May 2011. The price we paid for this accommodation was the cheapest in Alykanas. We would stay there again no problem. The apartments are 2 star - owners live on site. Self catering, no pool on site, but you can use the pool in a neighbouring hotel, 30 seconds down the road, or 40 seconds from the beach!

Rooms are very basic indeed, no telephone, no air con (hired fans are available), no TV (but who goes on holiday to watch TV), but there are power points to plug your Ipod/stereo in. Cooking facilities minimal, i.e. no kettle, you have to boil water in a pan. There is a hob, 2 rings only and a fridge. Pans, cups, glasses and cutlery are provided. Rooms clean, maintained regularly and basic. All rooms have a balcony - ideal for relaxing with a glass or two of wine before we went out on a night.

The accommodation is 2 buildings on 2 floors - only about 15 rooms in total. There are stairs to 1st floor rooms, but no lifts, so if you are not capable of going up stairs, recommend you try and get ground floor. However saying that we travelled with parents, both in their 60's and they managed okay.

Situated about 5 minutes walk from main road in Alykanas up a country lane. Plenty bars and restaurants - all kinds of international cuisine - Greek, Indian, Chinese and Italian. Prices for food and drink, not so dissimilar to UK prices. It was quiet there, but we did stay about 2 weeks before main season started. The next village, Alykes is a nice 15minute walk, either via the main street, but you can walk down the beach.

Overall, no complaints, would go back to this resort for peace and quiet and we would stay here too, mainly because of the price. Locality was fine too, but as I said do not expect too much.
