This was our 8th visit to alykanas but the first time at these apartments. They are very basic but the rooms are a good size and very clean. my husband is quite tall and had a problem with the shower, its hand held but really refreshing. The couple who own them dont speak much english but always said hello and tried to make conversation. The area is very quite except for the occaisional moo of the cows in the field next door or the odd rooster in the morning. Its a five minute walk to the beach and about 15mins to the resort centre. I wouldnt hesitate to stay here again it reminds me of the greece we used to visit years ago. some previous reviews state there was no kettle or toaster but there is now.

Room Tip: we had room 6 on the ground floor. very good if you arent very mobile, could still see the sea. my son and his wife were on top floor room 14 the views were stunning of alykanas bay

Spent two weeks at Draganikos Apartments. Very clean. Downside two single beds, hardly any covers, provided with a top sheet and cover, no blankets. Had to ask for a blanket. Cooking facilities were just one ring, fridge was very old, shower was a tray in the bathroom with no shower bracket so you had to hold the shower head over yourself. Bathroom floor flooded every morning. Flies, flies, mosquitos every time you left a window open, no flyscreens.
No TV, No Radio, No WiFi - no pool - in the accommadation you could go stir crazy. Had to buy a radio and buy access to Valais Hotel wifi for 35 euros a week. Fans were available at 10 euro a week.
On the plus side Zante was wonderful, blue skies, turquoise seas, loads of things to see but you see it in a week not two. Boat hire in the north was expensive but from Keri Beach really cheap starting at 35 euros a day.
Took my Fishing gear - caught two minnows, wheres all the fish? Fished out!!!
Greek people very friendly and excellent sales people, and based at every stop.
Hire a car if you visit Draganikos - it is remote, beach is nearby but everything else needs transport.

We hired a car from the airport and finding the Draganikos Apartments was a nightmare, Google maps puts it in the wrong place, the Apartments have no sign, you got tro ask in Alykanas till you find someone who knows where the apartments are. Thompsons info was a village name and the apartment name - useless.

Shopping is better from the Spar in Zakynthos or LIDL on the Airport road. Not so far away when you have a car.

Draganikos is obviously for the older generation and many older couples stayed at the same time as us. They liked the quiet and tranquility.
Had some really bad thunderstorms and torrential rain which brought out the flies and mosquitos and I had two huge lumps from bites on my neck. The local supermarket had a selection of creams and anti bite stuff luckily.

Room Tip: Book one of the other Hotels nearby.

We stayed in mid September for a week and you get what you pay for. The ups are the location 5 minutes to the beach mainstreet and supermarket. Its very quiet all the people staying there were like us 30 plus couples no children at all. It was very clean and was cleaned three times and bed sheets changed once in the week we were there. Owners are very friendly and accomodating.Gardens is good with lots of unusual plants in. Downs are all rooms have twin beds with wood frame, no doubles but the beds were comfortable. You could never cook a meal with facilities provided. No air conditioning there is the offer of a fan for 10 euros for the week in september this was ok not sure how comfortable this would be in August. We were on ground floor so were besiged by insects of all kinds in huge numbers we could never leave patio doors open. Bathroom was basic with hand held shower which meant it was hard to have a shower without flooding bathroom. We had night flight and booked into the Hotel Valais down the road which is three star and it too had a hand held shower but over a bath so might be a greek thing.
Alikanas is great not too tacky with just enough bars and restaurants. We would recommend Paradisio in Alykes and the Apollo, you could get a decent three course meall for less than 40 euros with wine. Agree with previous review about being careful who you book trips with we went on boat trip around island, it was very full and lunch wasnt good. having said that swimming in the caves was great and crew were friendly. Also demanded our money back from trip to Zante town when bus was an hour and half late and driver admitted we would still be coming back at same time so would have had an hour there. (Pelargos). The beach is lovely with lots of good beach bars and tavernas two beds and a parasol are 5 euros.

Room Tip: Up on first floor would give better views and let you open the doors to let air in

We stayed here again (our sixth visit) and hope to be back in 2013. Yes it is basic but the location is perfect.. The beds are comfortable and changed every five days or so. With only"2 rings on the hob Yes you couldn't cook a full meal but with such superb restaurants ten minutes away why eat in? Can thoroughly reccomend Vaggis. We bought a camping toaster from Wilkos before our trip which cooked breakfast adequatlely. Its a short stroll to an excellent beach which is ideal for children. The sand is great for castle construction and the water is gently shelving and crystal clear. Would reccomend a trip to the caves which are out of this world But be careful where you book if going by yourselves. We booked by the centre closest to Draganikos and were disgusted by the boat they allocated to us. Being used to boats we found them wanting with regards to UK safety standards Look before you book
A car is great to go round the island which is very diverse. We now tend to stay in the local areas and 'chill out'.

Room Tip: We found the rooms downstairs are cooler at night.
