What a great surprise! When we arrived we found that the villa was much better than we could have imagined. The spec was better, there was more terrace around the property which is not overlooked, so privacy was great despite living close to 3 other properties on the same plot. So much going on just outside the walls of the garden, such as rabbits, peacocks, doves, and much more. Don't take your hairdryer, it already has one! You will need a car if you wish to travel about, but if you just want pool and beach, then don't bother. Car hire from local Potamia rentals was great and informal which we loved. (not like dealing with big boys).
Nikos as a host is so welcoming, and friendly what more could you want, he was a delight and was only too willing to help with any directions or practical assistance. Wish we had stayed longer.

Villa Pagoni is part of a group of three villas sharing a pool, found at the end of a no through road lane. The owner also has a property on site although they don't live there. The garden is beautiful and the large pool is kept meticulously clean. Waking up to such beauty everyday with the sound of the crickets in the trees was wonderful.
Villas Pagoni was a wonderful base to return to at the end of the day. With a huge balcony terrace that wrapped around two sides of the property - ideal for breakfast and pre dinner drinks - oh and hanging towels to dry! Inside there's a reasonably spacious living area with small kitchen. The large fridge is great for stocking up cold drinks. Open all the shutters and the villa is lovely, bright and airy. The bathroom is recently decorated with huge shower and always hot water available. We found the beds comfortable and the linen was changed twice a week.
Nikos and Marina were very welcoming hosts. Nikos met us when we arrived and spent time with us explaining about the villa and local area. He came every evening to clean the pool and Marina tended to the beautiful garden.
The area of Vassilicos is the best on the island with at least ten beaches within a five to ten minute drive. Some of the popular ones were very crowded but it is not impossible to find smaller more peaceful beaches. We found the beach in front of The Bay hotel the best and it suited our son who found friends to play with. You can walk to local beaches but to be honest I would not want to walk even ten minutes in the heat of August! Avoid Dafni beach unless you have a jeep and are a confident driver. The drive is quite scary in places!
Their are around half a dozen places to eat in walking distance of the villa but we hired a jeep and often travelled a bit further along the road. The Gallini restaurant up in the hills is a really lovely setting and with a little park with rabbits to keep kids busy while waiting for dinner.
If you want a quiet place to return to at the end of the day with a lovely pool and terrace then Villa Pagoni is perfect. I should say we had the pool to ourselves very time we went in! It is quite hot in August so we tended to use in early morning or later in the day and head for cooler beach breeze the the hotter parts of the day. You can't go in the pool after 7 due to the cleaning chemicals that Nikos puts in but that's no hardship. The only thing Pagoni is missing is a BBQ. However we knew that before we went and understand it is a fire risk in the middle of the summer.
The house is in a quiet area of the island, it has all the necesary inside, the pool is fun and clean, the owners are very helpful and discreet, WiFi provided, is close to the beach, tavernas and supermarket.
