Arrived on July 29th 2014 for a short break only to be told that we did not have a reservation. We produced our booking form and the gentleman behind the desk telephoned someone and I heard him say overbooking. A few minutes later another man arrived and after looking at the booking on his computer told us that an e-mail had been sent as our card had been declined he couldn't find the e-mail that he had sent as he apparently doesn't keep them. Booking.com had not been told of this, nor had our card been declined. The man was very rude saying he was full it was our problem. Strangely enough he could put us in his other hotel nearer the beach and we didn't have any other option than to agree to this. I would check prior to your arrival that you have a booking with the hotel so you do not have the upset we had. They had clearly overbooked but would not admit to it . The hotel we stayed in did not have self catering and therefore we had to throw away our fresh food that we had taken with us. To get to the beach from Kavala Beach Hotel you have to cross a very busy road and most of the bars etc are about a mile away. The pool did look good.
