We were pretty much the only English speaking people in this busy, buzzy restaurant in the old quarter of Thessaloniki but the waiters (and waitress) made us very welcome and brought us an English menu. We had a fantastic beetroot and nut salad (Byzantine style), grilled meatballs (huge portion), tasty tzaziki and wonderful fennel and cheese pastries. Including a half kilo of wine (very palatable) and two small bottles of water, the bill came to just over €30 - we were also given a slice of semolina syrup cake, which was delicious.
So all of that was great BUT the reason why I can only give an average rating to this restaurant is because the toilet was awful. The men's loo was closed and the ladies were a terrible sight, with wet, sticky floor, a dirty loo and dirty sink, paper on the floor and really quite horrid. So guys, keep up the good food but please give a thought to your loos.
