“Best Hotel in Thessaloniki”
Reviewed 1 January 2012

This is the best hotel to stay in Thessaloniki. The perfect location just in Aristotelous sq with an excellent view, the beautiful building as well the friendly staff has made our staying for three nights an extraordinary experience. I definately recommend this nice hotel to all potential visitors to this nice city.
Thank you Electra staff...

Centrally located in Aristotelous square, this is the best place for exploring Thessaloniki. The building is impressive externally, as is also the interior.
Aristotelous square is the center of the city, and around the hotel you can find the best restaurants, bars and shops.
The hotel doesn't have parking, but there are a lot in the surrounding area.
The staff is friendly, polite and professional.
Rooms are big, nice decorated, with free wi-fi and exterior rooms have an excellent view to the square, the see and mount Olympus across the see.
But the best part is the Roof garden. The best view in town (look at the pictures). You can have here a nice breakfast, relax with a cup of coffee or get a tasteful dinner.
Room prices are a bit high - about 150 Euros (December), but I think a good value for money deal.

I have just spent 5 nights at this hotel. What can I say? All I can think to say is that is was just ok. The hotel isn't cheap and its reasonably nice but the rooms are tiny, beds hard and just, well.....just not really comfortable. Rooms are ok for one person but I wouldn't like to try and fit two in there. There is no tea and coffee facilities in the room - even the Travelodge has a kettle and coffee!, no iron or ironing board but most confusing of all.... not one English TV channel?? 22 channels and not one in English?

I found the staff functional at best, never a smile, quite brusque and unfriendly. I have to say here that the reception and concierge staff the exception to this as they were very friendly and helpful.

When I asked for coffee at breakfast one morning, the waiter pointed to a jug on an adjoining table and just said there was coffee in there. Very bad indeed! I didn't have coffee that morning as I felt embarrassed taking my neighbours coffee off another table.

Strangest thing this time around was the visit by two staff members at around 6.30pm each evening. A knock on the door, I open it, one has a checklist and ticks my room number off her list, the other one says "Everything ok with your room?", I say "Yes thanks" then she says "ok, good night". When I asked my colleague if she knew what all that is about she told me that it was the turndown service........what? Strangest turndown service I ever saw. What was the point of this charade every evening?

This is my third visit to this hotel. I use it for business and the main reason I use this hotel is for location. Can't say I ever look forward to coming here and that's really sad I think. Perhaps I'll try somewhere different next time I visit Thessaloniki.

Room Tip: Try and get one overlooking the square. The rear ones overlooking generators and rubbish bins are gr...

The location great. It is great to have breakfast at the terrace restaurant over looking the nice view of thessaloniki. The rooms are not in a good condition, need to have renovation. When you book the room ask for the room at the front side otherwise you ended up with dark building back yard.

We stayed in this hotel beginning of November for 3 nights. The best thing about this hotel is the location, it is situated in Aristotelous Square and has sea view. All the shops are close by and Ladadika is short walking distance away. Another nice thing is breakfast, the place on top floor has nice view and the selection of food is good.

The rooms are ok, I can't say that they are very good; the bed is not very comfortable to sleep. The walls are really thin and you can hear neighbours very well specially in the middle of night. Although the 3th floor is non smoking, there is bad smell of sigarets in the rooms ( we had two rooms).
We also visited spa center in hotel. The Gym is really small and Jacuzzi does not work properly also the indoor swimming pool is very shallow, which makes swimming little challenging.
Overall I think this place is overpriced compared for what it offers.

We decided to stay at the Elektra Palace, even though some reviews were less than favorable. We booked a room on level 5 overlooking the square and the sea. Rate inc breakfast.
The views were great, we had a large balcony, the room was well appointed, and if you are visiting Thessaloniki for leisure then this location cannot be beaten. The breakfast is excellent, and Dimitri the doorman is a legend (not surprising after 30 years in the job).
We loved our time here, and would definitely go back.

When my husband and I first visited Thessaloniki four years ago, we saw the Electra Palace a dozen times a day and I told him that the next time we went there, that is where I wanted to stay. Well, we've stayed there now, for a long weekend with two friends. It is situated in Aristoteleous Square, overlooking the square and the sea. The position is perfect; close to restaurants, cafes and bars, the shops, sites of antiquity and the seafront. The service is great, meals and refreshments are served in the restaurant, surrounded by a terrace, on the top floor and the ambiance is wonderful. The rooms were comfortable with balconies overlooking the square, free wifi and two "dunnies"! The only downside of the hotel was the the two lifts are quite small and our party of 4 reasonably large people couldn't travel together!
