“good location, friendly staff”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

The first room I was given on the fifth floor with my friend was a small double and the bathroom had a glass door which made me feel uncomfortable as it lacked in privacy. It also looked onto the street which made it noisy. We were staying 1st- 5th April and there were school excursions and conventions so the hotel was fully booked and the lift got stuck twice during our stay! The next morning we asked for another room and the only one available was on the 6th floor. Although it reminded me of a Parisian "chambre de bonne" (servant room in the attic), a bit shabby, with no lift and a view on the back alleys at least it was quiet at night which for me was more important! The good thing about the hotel is that the night bus 78N from the airport will stop only about 10 metres away from your hotel. At the same bus stop and across the street there are frequent buses that take you to different neighbourhoods. You will need to ask for information at the receptionist and why not get your free copy of the Thessaloniki map? Most of the sights can be done on foot. Another thing to mention about the hotel is that breakfast is Continental so expect coffee or tea from machine, cake, cereal, cheese, ham, toast, butter jam and honey, yoghurt but no fresh vegetables or fruit or fresh juice although a flavoured sachet sort of juice is available. The hotel is located to El Greco which is far better than Aegeon Hotel but is almost twice the price! So all in all it is okay for the price you pay and if it's just for sleeping after spending your whole day outdoors, no problem! Why pay for luxury when you don't have the time to enjoy it! Budget, safe, ok, friendly staff are the four things that summarise your experience at Aegeon!

I stayed at this hotel with my wife for two nights. It is very quite during night (our window was on the back side).
The day we arrived we checked in and the staff was very friendly. In general the hotel was very clean. The room was a little small, but we got used to it. The bathroom was clean and had hot water and good preassure.
The breakfast as nice, as in many hotels in Europe.
The location is not bad. You can get to main square for 5-8 minutes walking, 10 min to the shore and 5 min to the restaurants square where you can find best restaurants and tavernas.
The hotel is located in one of the main streets in center of Thesaloniki.
I would recomand this hotel to everyone.

The lift got stuck each time we tried to reach the fifth floor, so had to use the stairs. Asked for non-smoking room, but ours stank of smoke & had an ash tray on the table. Small room with view of a concrete wall. WiFi non-existent, so planning onward trip was difficult. Pieces of broken glass and pubic hair on the floor. Helpful, but less than friendly staff. Breakfast as bad as other reviewers have experienced. Not an expensive place to stay, but even so - pretty rubbish!

it wasn't a very pleasant experience for us, it was a special offer indeed at 35 Euro/night, but they give us first a room were it was dripping water from the ceiling of the bathroom, and in the corner of the room it was a spot of mold; they give us another room which had the shower cabin all moldy, (the room 503) as you can see from the Photos. the breakfast it was poor also.

Well placed on the main central street next to loads of other hotels, the Aegeon was great - amazingly cheap but nice rooms, recently done, walk in shower room, I had two beds, air con, balcony over the road, etc with breakfast for fraction of price of any other hotel. Double glazing very effective so no trouble with road noise. Very friendly 24 hour reception. Breakfast basic but OK. Recommended, best value for money hotel I've stayed in all year.

The rooms are really small and at least for the double rooms the toilet door is made out of glass/see through (the actual toilet is placed right behind the door so the one sitting one the bed can pretty much see anything the person on the toilet does. For couples it might be interesting but for others it might not.
Also, the rooms facing the main boulevard/north are very noisy and tend to get very hot since the sun is shining on the northern hotel wall throughout the day.
The rooms are pretty clean but not that top notch and the cleaning lady comes everyday to change sheets. The AC is welcomed during the hot summer.
If you come by car, you'll have a really tough time in finding a parking place. There are the general public street parks but it's near impossible to find empty places at any given time or on any day. There are 2 private parking locations right on the other side of the hotel at 8-10 euros/day/car but at least for one of them it takes a skilled driver to get in and out.
All-in-all it's a cheap place to stay and it's more for those who are outgoing than hotel enthusiasts.

Room Tip: Try choosing a room that is not oriented towards the north/main boulevard because it's very nois...
