Owner description: The Musesum of the Macedonian Struggle is a historical museum that presents the local history and cultural identity of Macedonia, keeping alive the memory of the struggles of Hellenism and highlighting the role of ordinary people who left indelible traces in a diverse cultural heritage. With the tours one discovers a lesser known but ideologically charged chapter of the Greek and Balkan history of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Museum is open to the public Monday-Friday 9:00-14:00 and Saturday 10:00-14:00.

“Historical citadel of Thessaloniki”

Cosy and amazing place with exciting history!
Nice people who works there make this museum even more attractive!
You could see the film about history of Macedonia (in Greek & English) and to find unusual details of the lifestyle of the historic period. For instance learn more about the secret gate of Metropolis which linked building of the Museum (in that period - Greek Consulate) and the church or catch sight of rare original documents.
Uniquely worth visiting!

“Worth visiting!”

Very interesting museum which gives a very good idea of the history of the Macedonian struggle and of the region in general. Photos and exhibits from all over the region. Housed in a beautiful new-classic building designed by Ernst Ziller, which was the Greek Consulate during the Ottoman Era. Worth visiting!

“Macedonia is Greek”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2013

The museum was fully renovated in 2009 and its exhibits are arranged in seven halls. The ones in the ground floor are arranged by date and subject. I was very impressed with the collection of relics and documents dating back to the Macedonian struggle. There's a free guided tour in Greek and English every day.

“A really good insight of the local history.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 May 2013

The museum is in a lovely building in the heart of Thessaloniki. There are three floors and the explanations are in Greek and English. Entrance fee was euro 2,00 per adult. If you have 45 minutes to spare (if that) it is well worth paying a visit.
