A museum about the ancient history of Greece. It shows exhibits of all periods of the ancient history. You can see the civilization that was developed in the area especially during the period of the Kingdom of Macedonia of Alexander the Great. A museum worth visit during your stay in Thessaloniki.

I haven't been to this museum in years, and I found that it has changed into a great gem. Excellent displays of finds in and around Thessaloniki.

This museum is very interesting. There is a lot of statues and objects that represented he Macedonian heritage which is Greek from different preriods. The staff are good and knowledgeable. It's a nice place to visit in Thessaloniki.

This is not the best we have ever been to but is still not bad. Lots of things to see. Alexander the Great and the gods were on display. Lots of funerary sculptures and good stories about them. Other museums in the city are also worth having a look if you have time. Can get a double entry for a cheaper price with the Byzantine Museum.

The museum is a treasure for the city. It is well organized, visitor friendly, open 8-8 in the summer, and superbly rich in exhibits, descriptions and stories! Following the main path, you will get to see many wonderful details about the history of this place and amazing stories about the day to day life of people in Macedonian times. Our kids, ages 7 and 12, loved learning about clothing and jewelry of that era as well as how people cooked and lived. The tombs with all that was found int them are exquisite, as are the mosaics. The gold that was found in Macedonian tombs is also worth the visit-- this is housed in a separate room so make sure not to miss it. The rare find of an amazingly well preserved 2000 year skeleton is a must see. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We finished our tour at the museum cafe with lunch that was very reasonably priced (22 euro lunch for a family of four cannot be beaten!) and quite good quality, unlike many other museum cafeterias we visited around the world.
