We stayed 3 nights in a sea view (321) spacious room which commanded a spectacular view of the new promenade and the bay. We rented bikes form the hotel (at reduced price) and enjoyed an hour's cycling along the safe promenade which is a haven for all ages. Watching the sun set or the moon setting is very romantic. Breakfast was very abundant with attentive staff. Their 'Thy-mare' restaurant may be a bit expensive but it is worth a dinner. Although there are regural bus services to the center we preferred waliking to stretch out. ,

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are dearer but it is worth.

The hotel is a city landmark, recently bought by a Greek-Russian who also bought the city's most popular football team. The location is great, near the recently renovated seafront promenade. The rooms are spacious with city or sea view. Although the room and bathroom is well kept, renovation is needed. The blinds are worn, the closet hard to use. On the positive side, the bathroom is very clean, and fully equiped. Breakfast restaurant is excellent, with a very good selection of local and international choices. Extra effort to please by very efficient staff, at restaurant and front desk. Fantastic coffee terasse overlooking the bay. There is a nice swimming pool but only for summer months. The hotel lacks an indoor pool-spa facility. Also its age becomes evident if you look closely on the outside. Paintwork and marble work need freshening up.
Despite its age, the high quality service and prime location save the day - but for how long? competition is strong and more and more high quality options available...

I was booked into this hotel by a local person for a business trip.
Nice efficient and friendly check in, and a nice sea view room with balcony.
Clean spacious room, with clean linens and towels.
Right next to the promenade, so great if you want a walk from the hotel.
Fantastic breakfast selection, that caters for all tastes.
Food in the hotel is pretty extortionate, but there are plenty of other options within 5/10 minutes walk. Would highly recommend this hotel overall.

I stayed with my family in Makedonia Palace for just one night at the beginning of January. We booked a double room with sea view with an extra bed for my eleven years son for 120 euro, including breakfast. This was a very reasonable price for a 4 stars hotel located nearby the city center, with great sea view and tastefully breakfast. The room was clear and enough spacefull and my only observation has to do with the renovation that the hotel generally needs. Definitely I will stay again in Makedonia Palace next time I will visit Thessaloniki
