Hotel for business not pleasure. For a conference place it was rated as excellent and it was very clean and sophisticated. The bar and lounge area was lovely and although I didn't eat in the restaurant the food menus looked great. I had a club sandwich lunch and it was provably the best I've had. The service was great too. However there wasn't anything more to it than that. I would not recommend for couples or holiday goers. It's for people on one night business stay. Mainly because it's biggest drawback was the hotel had no proper outdoor space to sit in the sun and enjoy a drink.there was some basic seating outside the front looking at the road but no area to relax and put your feet up. Even for a business hotel I would expect most would want this from a alleged 5 star hotel. Honestly it's a 4. Although there was no spa or pool I thought there might be some amenities close by and there was none, it's a good taxi ride into town each time and there wasn't an overwhelming amount to do although some good restaurants and great night life if interested. Taxis are very cheap though! Lots of students there being there is a university etc. the rooms were good sized actually and functional with good air con. Had a nice bathroom and lots of extras. Good bedding but a low and overly firm mattress that as a personal preference was too hard for me. It was generally not a comfortable nights sleep. There is a problem with noise. The walls are thin and the maids you can hear cleaning and chatting after 10am outside your room and in the one next door. You can hear muffled conversations of your neighbours. The food and drink in the hotel is expensive generally. On the whole I think for a business trip in transit it's fine. As it's far out from anything else not sure I would recommend for anything else. Also the wifi although great, was not strong enough to support any skype, not sure why. Perhaps due to the high volume of business guests using it the wkd of my stay as there was a conference on, not sure.
