“One night stand :)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2014 via mobile

We were able to only stay one night, but what a night it was, first off the staff was wonderful, wonderful enough to find ourselves drifted in a conversation for 20 mins at the check-in. They were kind and sincere and very helpful. You might say that's how a hotel staff should be, you'd be right but they don't have to be sincere, and these people were. The room was large, since we stayed at a deluxe double room. The bathroom was wonderful, it is after all an important place. The AC unit was central and kept a well cool temp in the room at all times. The TV was great and had cable channels, was this worth mentioning? Well, when you're back from tiring day and want to unwind its always nice to watch something you can like, it's also good in the mornings when you're waking up, news, music, etc. it's all available. Internet was good enough and the breakfast had a good variety of choices. The location was great because you could walk almost anywhere without feeling that life is being drained away. We give a full thumbs up!

We stayed at the Zaliki hotel for 7 nights during our vacation to Thessaloniki. It was our home base during side trips to Olympus and Chalkidiki. We could not have chosen a better place - we just loved the experience.

The rooms are quaint, very clean, and quiet. The staff is the most helpful and knowledgeable you can find about area tours, restaurants and side trips. Breakfast was great and we enjoyed the Greek coffe, espresso, and regular filtered coffee too. The location of the hotel is central and we were able to walk all over the city from our home base.

It felt like home. The warmth of the staff made us feel like we were at our Greek cousins house. The history of this place is most interesting, having once been a French consulate and apartment homes of Jewish residents before they were removed during the Holocaust. We were honored to be in such a sacred place.

We miss Zaliki already and will come back the next time we visit Thessaloniki.

As one of the previous reviewers already wrote, the problem with this hotel is that it's not a boutique hotel and not a four star hotel. Were this a three star hotel, I would have given it much more favourable ratings, but given the four stars they claim, which just isn't according to international standards, I have to say otherwise.

First thing first, the combination of new rooms, okay location and very helpful staff makes this hotel good value for money. Just don't expect anything luxurious the name might imply. It's close to Egnatia boulevard, maybe a ten minutes' walk to the seaside. The rooms are clean and the whole hotel either new or renovated, either way shiny. That's good. We chose it because it has parking, which might be problem in downtown Thessaloniki. The price was what we were willing to pay, no problem with that.

The first problem comes with the boutique claim. Boutique hotels are, to my knowledge, hotels with exceptional décor, where the rooms are usually furnished in a different, interesting and/or quirky way. Zaliki has uniform room design, nothing special. What's more, even the deluxe rooms are really tiny, there's almost no place to put your suitcases, especially if they're larger ones and most of the storage space of the closet is stacked up with spare blankets, pillows, etc. There's bed which looks like a folding-out couch and a small desk by the side of the opposite wall and that's it. Bathroom also tiny, but what's worse, there's glass door with hole in the bottom, so you can see and hear the other person in there... At this point, one really doesn't care about the hotel logo embroidered on the towels...

Very poor sleep quality. Walls are thin and with a combination of tiles on the corridors, I was being woken up during the night by sounds of people talking in the corridors several stories below me, banging of doors, then in the morning by maids running up and down with their trollies.

Breakfast has a decent selection that will feed you, the problem is when you don't really eat bread and pastries. There were some scrambled eggs, but not very good ones.

Overall, as I've said, good value hotel in a good location and with nice and very polite staff. Just don't book it with expectations of a boutique hotel or a four star one.

The help we received from one lady from the hotel staff made me write this review.
We stayed at Zaliki Hotel for one night on our way to Lefkada, Greece. The hotel is centrally located, it is a small and clean hotel with the most friendly staff. The rooms are big and clean, the furniture is a bit old, but well maintained. We had a room facing the street which is a bit noisy, but that didn't interfere to our sleep.
The breakfast was very good and available until 12 or 12:30. A very good value for the money we paid.
When we arrived we were received by a lady named Athina or something, very, very nice and helpful. Unfortunately as we arrived our son had high fever which got even higher during the night. We went to the reception to ask for some recommendation for a hospital, doctor, whatever possible in a little time as we had to be leaving for Lefkada that day. It was not the same lady from the previous evening, but a younger one (I think her name is Stella) who made her best to try to find us a doctor to come and see our son. And she did find us a nice doctor who came in less than one hour. We appreciated a lot her willingness to help us.

A Great place to stay in Thessaloniki, within walking distance from the center.
Nice rooms and very clean. But most importanat -the staff! Young people , all of them willing to help and make your stay at the Hotel and the City pleasant and enjoyable.
One thing though: If you like good coffe - drink it some other place...

I stayed at Zaliki for three nights and had a very good stay. The pick-up service at the airport worked well. The location is good. Everything was clean. I experienced some loud music from surrounding bars and restaurants on Saturday evening, but in general, it was a quiet area.

You can walk from the hotel to whatever destination you have in the city. There is a small supermarket just around the corner.

If you haven`t been to Thessaloniki before you are maybe expecting beautiful sandy beaches. Well, there is no city beach. In order to get to a beach you need a car or a bus. You can even take a boat to Perea (about 15 minutes).

My favorite restaurant became Kitchen Bar by the seaport. Excellent location, fresh and good food and very good music.

The best thing at the hotel was the staff. They are very friendly and helpful. Not like they have been taught how to be friendly, but just because it is a natural to them. This is a good choice if you like small hotels with good personal service.
