Andreas was waiting for us when we got off the cruise ship. The car was a beautiful Mercedes, very neat, clean and air conditioned. His English very good. We were taken to the ruins at Olympia with a guide book and two bottles of cold water. We were dropped off right at the entrance. He helped us buy our tickets then we arranged a time and place to meet after the ruins and museum. When he picked us up we were offered a winery but we opted to have an authentic Greek lunch. He took us to a small but delicious restaurant in Olympia and I did a little shopping. All the people in the village were very friendly. He waited right there for us so he was ready when we were. He drove us to a small beach, we drove around the country side to see farms and how the people lived. We were stopped by a herd of goats that took over the street. He provided us with great information. He played Greek music in the car that I enjoyed very much and gave me a copy of the music when we arrived back at the port. Great service. We could have changed our itinerary to what every we chose. It was a wonderful day and great experience. We had reservations made before we left the USA and he met us with a sign. So easy and relaxing and so much better than the tours the cruise ship offers. http://www.taxikatakolo.gr/ just email him and he will set everything up. email olympiataxi@yahoo.gr

We had a thoroughly delightful tour with Andreas to Olympia, the archeological site, and perhaps the finest small museum I have visited. Andreas was thoughtful and helpful with my disability which involves traveling with a four-wheel walker.

We loved his taking us to the small family winery where we spent an hour or so with Amanda, the digger who is a microbiologist unable to find employment with the economic conditions in Greece, but glad to have the family business to provide a job when many of her friends have NONE.

Andres provided lots of good information, historical and cultural and we would certainly recommend his services.

As compared with cruise line bus tours with forty or more people, we found having Andreas in a car with no others worth paying a bit more - we could hear everything. And we could change the schedule if we found anything too strenuous for a couple of old broads in their 70s and80s.

We had booked for Olympia tours with Andreas based on the good reviews on Tripadvisor. Since Andreas was busy with another guest, he arranged for us his friend. We arrived on a cruise ship at the port and Mr Takis was waiting for us. The drive to Olympia was enjoyable in his well kept Mercedes car and he gave us loads of information on the area. He offered cold bottled water for each of us. At Olympia, we took the books he gave us and explored the site and museum. After that we went to see a monastery and then a beach. Last we headed back to the port and Takis took us to a good seafood restaurant. It was great personalized service and better than the bus tours.

Mr Stamos is a very friendly and safe tour driver.
His car is very clean and the tour to Olympia was really interesting.
At the end of our tour we had received a gift from Mr Stamos which should remember us of this very nice tour.

We were picked up from the Cruise Port at Katakolon by Stamos Taxis. Our driver took us to Olympia where he dropped us off to wander around the ancient site and the museum with a guidebook. It was well worth the visit. The best part of the day was a visit to Olympia GH, a little boutique family run winery (www.olympiagh.gr) where the daughter gave us an interesting tour followed by a delicious tasting with little fresh delicacies to accompany it. We really enjoyed the day but found the Euro 180 cost quite high and were happy we shared the taxi with another couple. It was air conditioned and convenient, however and the driver pleasant. We were dropped off for lunch at modern Olympia town where we wandered around for an hour or so before being dropped back at Katakolon. It took about 5 hours but the booking was for 6. He offered to take us somewhere else but we declined. Cost of entry to archeological site and museum was extra.
