It was so fortunate that a reputed (and arrogant) Cruising excursion company from UK did not have a place for us to take us on their 4 port excursion and so I looked at Trip advisor in desperation and came across Andreas Stamos's company and was struck by the universal words of praise from all his guests. For once it sounded too good to be true and at the end of the excursion I realized that ALL WAS ABSOLUTELY TRUE about this very polite, efficient and friendly Greek gentleman who has a fantastic time keeping skill. The details of the trip that he organised are well described by other fortunate users of his services and depending on how much time you you give to the Olympia site ( like we did as I am a history enthusiast well aided by the fantastic guide book that he gives to self guide yourself around the ruins and if you have children in prams it takes that much longer !) the schedule of the other places that you may want to visit you can vary and Andreas is flexible.
With Andreas we visited the family run winery by Amanda and her family - for 2 hours we felt we had been adopted into a Greek family with Amanda and her brother and her parents and grandparents joining us to make our trip a truly Greek "wedding" - we were travelling with our 6 and 3 yr old and we felt at home all the way through.
We are yet to taste the olive oil that Andreas has personally grown and we we wish him all the very best to the upcoming addition to his family ( my wife sends special greetings to Mrs Stamos).
Andreas you have been a very good guide and a friend for the 5 hours we were with you and we wish you and your ancient country all the very best and prosperity for the future.
Good luck
Partha Ray

If you like to do your own thing when travelling, rather than be part of a large group tour, then contact Andreas when you next visit Greece. He offers personalised service for less than you would pay for a large group excursions.
I booked Andreas after reading reviews on Tripadvisor. We sailed on the Fantasia from Venice and arrived in Katakolon with only 6 hours to see the place. There were five of us, so we had arranged 2 taxis with Andreas. After walking from the boat to the gate, we saw a huge number of taxis and a sea of people milling around, but as we got closer we saw Andreas standing right at the front with a sign with our name. We were greeted warmly and quickly installed in the two Mercedes and were on our way.
Before we set off, Andreas confirmed our preferred activities for the day and so we headed first for Olympus. During the drive he talked about the areas we were passing through and made it a very interesting trip. On arrival at Olympus were were given very clear instructions about entry into the ancient Olympic site and the museum and given a great guide book to follow, as well as instructions about where we would be met afterwards. We spent a couple of hours exploring the site and found the museum really good - an excellent small collection that was do-able in a short time.
As soon as we left the museum, Andreas was there to lead us back to the cars and we set off for the town, where we enjoyed an hour wandering the streets and enjoying the cheerful banter of the shop keepers. We then headed to the beach where we were taken to a lovely cafe overlooking a spectacular cove - it felt really Greek!. The trip had been organized so that we ended up only a five minute drive from the wharf, so that we never felt stressed about being back on time.
It was a great day, Andreas is a great guy who offers a very professional service.

I recently travelled to Katakolon (the port for Olympia) in Greece during a cruise holiday with my husband and my parents on MSC Fantasia.
We had 5 hours to spend in Katakolon on Tuesday 1st October 2013.
I had researched private tours before we left home and had agreed to spend the day with Andreas. As promised, Andreas was at the main gate of the port when our ship docked. He was very smart, friendly and knowledgable. Our ship docked at 8.30am and we met him at 8.45am.
Andreas was standing next to his car (very clean and very comfortable) with a sign on the car with my name on. He took us straight to the ancient site of Olympia and drove us all the way up to the ticket office. We arrived before all the ship tour coaches which was great. He went straight to the front of the ticket queue and secured our tickets for us which was very helpful. He told us where he would wait for us and gave us plenty of time to explore.
The site was beautiful and it was a hot day which was lovely. He also provided us with a map of the site which is in the form of a booklet that helps you see how the structures and ruins would look like back then.
When he collected us, he took us to a winery where we spent about 1.25 hours. It was just perfect. The winery is run by a family of 4 and the daughter Amanda showed us around. She was very knowledgeable and proud of the winery and we absolutely thoroughly enjoyed the time there. They even provided us with food and drinks at the end which was lovely. The winery was called Olympic Winery.
This tour complete exceeded our expectations and we felt that we saw so much of the area in so little time. The winery tour felt very personal and we will all remember the experience for a long time.
The only thing we did not see was the lunch and shopping in Olympia city because our ship was departing port earlier than expected. Instead we had some free time in Katakolon port near the ship so we felt more comfortable.
At the end of the tour, Andreas kindly gave us a bottle of olive oil that his family make on their farm and he told us stories about his son and his family.
We had a wonderful day out and would like to thank Andreas for such a fabulous time.
We highly recommend his tour.
Thank you!

Our tour with Andreas was fantastic. He was at the designated place on time and the tour was very enjoyable and informative. We had lots of questions which he answered with even more info.
He was always aware of our comfort and asked us what our preferences were of where we wanted to go. He took us to places that regular tours don't go and we really got a feel for the country ---he truly wanted us to love it as much as he does.

The week after we returned we saw the Olympic flame lit and we could say "we were there"
