Great to see this piece of history. I wish they had an audio tour that you could use. We used a private guide but it is not necessary

We enjoyed a stop here, but didn't need more than an hour. You must race your family/friends at the original site. Being able to run on the original track site track was the highlight for my crew.

Avoid using the restrooms if you can they are horrid.

It is exciting to see first olympic stadium and the ruins of the City.
Still archeologist are working on some sites.
Most of the parts are moved in to the Museum in the City.
It was very hot in the summer take an umbrella and water with you cos they dont sell around .
You can also have a carriage tour if you dont want to walk the way Back to town Center

A site like Ancient Olympia such have more control over the amount of visitors at a time. When you are a traveller on your own, you have great difficulty in seeing ruins if there are a thousand tour groups hogging the view!! The grounds on which the site stands are not very well kept.

This site is truly gorgeous and full of fascinating history from the original Olympic games. I think having a good guide really makes or breaks the experience, though - without one, it's really hard to figure out what you're looking at! The site didn't have an official audiotour, but we found one at www.elladaguides.com.

A couple of other tips:
* I'd recommend visiting early in the morning or late afternoon/evening when the site is less crowded.
* Leave time to visit the museum next to the site!
