The rooms are clean, large enough but simple. Forget the television. Only a few programs of a very bad technical quality. Breakfast is excellent with additional home cooked pastry.
The terrace is a dream. Lots of plants, flowers, and comfortable chairs. The family takes excellent care of their guests.
The hotel is only 5 minutes away from the harbour and in a very quiet area.
We stayed there 8 days and enjoyed every minute!

I read several of the other recent reviews and I have to agree with all of them. The hosts are wonderfully helpful and friendly, but the room was a bit basic (though the air-conditioner and everything else worked), especially the bathroom, which was cramped. I liked the quiet location, though it is a little walk up from the harbour, and eating breakfast in the lovely garden was a real joy. Excellent free wireless internet. Overall, I think you have to decide what you want from a place like this. For me, it was a great choice on a magical island.

We spent two nights in Hydra. The first night was spent at Mistral- nice enough and certainly not lacking on the breakfast front however, they were lacking on the hospitality front. The second night we decided to stay at Greco and immediately fell in love with the family that ran the place. They were immensely helpful and friendly. This made for a MUCH better time. We loved the island and will be returning again but this time we'll be doing it right and staying at Hotel Greco both nights. Epic.

The owner lady at the reception the kindest and most cordial you can find. But the rooms? Old old old, tacky and the bathroom sink, toilet, and too small shower come in a sax blue, aka the 70s!!!! Not for those who like to shower without touching the old shower curtain.

My stay at the greco was very pleasent, greco is a very cosy and nice hotel.
The keramidas family is and will always be the best and no matter how many times I thank it will never be enough.
The rooms are very traditional, the bed is very comfy and there are big closets where you can place your clothes in, the garden is the cherry on top of the cake. There is also wi-fi everywhere around the hotel which is very useful.
The hotel is in the best location possible, there is no noise but it's still close to the port.
The breakfast includes a big variety of food and it is made by Maria (the owner of the hotel), besides cooking maria is also there to help you 24/7.
I strongly recommend the greco hotel to anyone who's seeking for a good time.

Best wishes to the Keramidas family.

I cannot find the words to completely express what an amazing experience I had on Hydra,  not only because of the island's beauty, but also because I had the pleasure of staying at the Greco Hotel for 4 days in July.  The family who owns and operates this delightful 19 room hotel is one of the nicest families I have ever met.  Maria & her son, Alkis,  make their guests feel welcome from the second they greet them.  Their happy, positive spirits shine through with every interaction.  The hotel is a short walk from the port; the  location of the hotel is in a perfect spot because it is quite peaceful but also very close to the shops, restaurants & nightlife of the main port.  The rooms at the Greco Hotel are spacious, simply - yet tastefully -decorated & spotless!  Amenities include air conditioning, a mini refrigerator, ample closet space, comfortable beds, free wifi on all floors & a quaint bathroom (in the closet you'll even find a hair dryer & sewing kit). The garden area is the centerpiece of the Greco Hotel with its gorgeous plants, fragrant flowers, whimsical decorations & butterflies fluttering by.  The moment one sits in this relaxing oasis the stress melts away.  The Greco Hotel also offers a delicious breakfast buffet with such a varied selection of items that  everyone  is sure to find something to suit his/her taste.  The best part of breakfast is  Maria's baked goods (cakes, pies - 'pites', quiches & so much more) all prepared with the skill of a master baker & the love of a Greek mother.   If you are in the mood to shop, then definitely visit the family's jewelry store, Greco Gold in the main port.  The Father & sons team (Lykourgos, Yiannis & Alkis) design and skillfully craft their own exquisite line of jewelry as well as offer a large selection of other designers' pieces.  (If you're  thinking to yourself that this is one of the hardest working families on Hydra, you're right!)  I am already planning a trip back, my time spent at the Greco Hotel & Hydra was that special! The Greco Hotel is an excellent choice while vacationing on Hydra.

Hydra is a traditional settlement and one of the worlds' jewel-islands. Greco is a 20 years hotel well maintained. Located in one of the most airy street of the town has an easy five min walking distance from the port. The hotel has good size rooms with the basic amenities, but above all is the "welcome" and the hospitality provided by the family-owners, who they are willingly respond to all of your needs. The breakfast it is also a plus; all of its interesting "goods" are home made with the personal care by the mother of the family. I would go back to this hotel mainly for the care of its people.
