My workplace was wise enough to ship us to Hydra for a seminar. We had to split in three hotels. I was LUCKY to stay with Maria and her son at Greco. Sooo nice to walk up there from the harbour at night, away from the bustle, and only within 3 mins of the seafront. No cars, motorbikes or even bicycles on the island! (Well, spotted two kids who had'em). Donkeys and mules all over the place. Hidden gems in narrow back streets. Amazing cobblestone alleys everywhere. Maria was whatever one could wish for with regard to hospitality. Her family also owns the poshest jewelry shop along the harbour. Some very pretty things there. Sorry for you, guys, they close for the winter in a couple of weeks, so hurry up if you've plans to go now! The sea was lovely!!! Swimming in October is underrated. ;)

Room Tip: I stayed in no 13 with a view to the football field. The boys there finished early due to no floodl...

I had intended spending five days on Hydra, then seeing where the wind blew me but, having found Maria's Hotel Greco, I felt it unwise and unnecessary to move on. Apart from the cockerels crowing and occasional donkeys' braying, this hotel is a haven of peace and tranquility, the garden where you have breakfast is beautiful and the room was immaculate. Maria attends to her guests with true greek filoxenia and it is easy to feel that she wants you to be content from her heart. I rarely return to the same place but could well make an exception this time.

The rooms are clean, large enough but simple. Forget the television. Only a few programs of a very bad technical quality. Breakfast is excellent with additional home cooked pastry.
The terrace is a dream. Lots of plants, flowers, and comfortable chairs. The family takes excellent care of their guests.
The hotel is only 5 minutes away from the harbour and in a very quiet area.
We stayed there 8 days and enjoyed every minute!

I read several of the other recent reviews and I have to agree with all of them. The hosts are wonderfully helpful and friendly, but the room was a bit basic (though the air-conditioner and everything else worked), especially the bathroom, which was cramped. I liked the quiet location, though it is a little walk up from the harbour, and eating breakfast in the lovely garden was a real joy. Excellent free wireless internet. Overall, I think you have to decide what you want from a place like this. For me, it was a great choice on a magical island.

We spent two nights in Hydra. The first night was spent at Mistral- nice enough and certainly not lacking on the breakfast front however, they were lacking on the hospitality front. The second night we decided to stay at Greco and immediately fell in love with the family that ran the place. They were immensely helpful and friendly. This made for a MUCH better time. We loved the island and will be returning again but this time we'll be doing it right and staying at Hotel Greco both nights. Epic.

The owner lady at the reception the kindest and most cordial you can find. But the rooms? Old old old, tacky and the bathroom sink, toilet, and too small shower come in a sax blue, aka the 70s!!!! Not for those who like to shower without touching the old shower curtain.

My stay at the greco was very pleasent, greco is a very cosy and nice hotel.
The keramidas family is and will always be the best and no matter how many times I thank it will never be enough.
The rooms are very traditional, the bed is very comfy and there are big closets where you can place your clothes in, the garden is the cherry on top of the cake. There is also wi-fi everywhere around the hotel which is very useful.
The hotel is in the best location possible, there is no noise but it's still close to the port.
The breakfast includes a big variety of food and it is made by Maria (the owner of the hotel), besides cooking maria is also there to help you 24/7.
I strongly recommend the greco hotel to anyone who's seeking for a good time.

Best wishes to the Keramidas family.
