I've been to many Greek islands - some of them much less visited than Hydra - but I thought Bisti was one of the loveliest beaches I have been to, even though it is pebbly and organised, in the sense that you have to pay for the use of an umbrella and loungers. We were there in July, when it was busy, but even so it was peaceful, the water was clear and lovely for swimming and the pine forests behind were beautiful. The beach bar serves great Greek salads, that they make on the spot, as well as sandwiches, and it was a treat to find that most of the others on the beach were respectful and quiet. The boat trip there is enjoyable, too, and it became something to look forward to - a lovely way to see the coastline of Hydra.
